College Visits Heading South then North

We leave tomorrow for our first visit to Vanderbilt for junior D. She is interested in Biomedical Engineering and pre-med. Thursday we head to Case Western. Looking for suggestions for great restaurants near both schools.

Vanderbilt - there are so many! Here are a few threads from the Vanderbilt forum that may help:

In the Hillsboro Village area adjacent to campus, Pancake Pantry is an institution and NOT overrated. Depending upon the time of day, you may find you have to invest a lot of time to get a table, but it’s a great experience.

On the other end of campus, on Broadway, Noshville is a good spot to get a deli-style meal quickly - good service, prices, and portions.

Near the stadium, in the West End area, Bread and Company is a really good sandwich spot. You order at a counter but there is some seating - it’s also handy to take your lunch to go and maybe enjoy it on campus.

I like Cabana in Hillsboro Village (same area of town Pancake Pantry is in) for an informal but still nice, reasonably-priced meal.

In Cleveland (assuming you’ll have a car) we highly recommend this Itralian restaurant a mile or so from Case campus - La Trattoria. We learned about it from an admission rep. Ah, I’m not sure any other eggplant parmesan will taste quite as good after that experience.

Hmmm… I think this is it - double check with folks at Case

Thanks for the links, I thought I had found all of them but I had missed some. I know we are supposed to be looking at colleges but the food always seems to be so important :)

There is a “Little Italy” section fairly close to campus, I think that is what colorado_mom is suggesting. I wonder if we ate in the same restaurant?
Anyway, we asked some students and they each had a favorite restaurant to recommend in Little Italy. It was excellent, my son considered it a factor in Case’s favor on his list ;)
