Deja--same here--we will plan our Spring break trip based on news received on 3/31. Usually we're plan-ahead types so it feels weird to be in limbo like this.

It is so important to step back just let the student do their own exploration......Of all the schools I have visited, I still like Stanford the most.

DadII- which school did your son like best and why?

DadII, I have a son who is a recent Swarthmore grad, and I just looked at the school again with a younger son. There is one dorm at Swarthmore which might be a 10-15 minute walk to some of the classrooms. I would think that would be a "normal" walk at many colleges and universities.

Thanks, Dad II. I think that vicariousparent said pretty much the same thing about Princeton because they visited over spring break as well.

I'm glad your S was so impressed with Swarthmore - it's a great school. We'll be visiting next month, though I'm not sure whether D will have time to sit in on a class.

Sounds like the visit was a success.

D visited Princeton in the Fall, was not overly impressed, I think it was as much the "I want out of NJ" attitude. She was not a fan of the dining clubs either.

did a big trip over summer;

Bowdoin, which she really liked alot, had a great interview. She took course catalogues from all the schools, especially the smaller ones and highlighted all the courses she would like to take. this was very helpful for her.

Middlebury: This was second time there, had been there in session so had a good feel for student body. Had interview.

Colgate: Beautiful campus, but ended up very unimpressed at info session, did not like study abroad format. (She did end applying here anyway in a panic after ED deferral)

UVA: spent two full days here, as she was very wary of size. this was a great idea, really let her explore campus and the info session was one of the best, still giving her very liberal arts feel without being huge. (gets decision today)

Cornell: kept going back and forth, decided again in Dec to apply, but of course when we were at Colgate had no interest!! so has not seen. thought it was okay since she had seen a range.

We arrived tonight at Oberlin. Have a tour/info session in the morning…we will leave about 2pm and drive 2 1/2 hr to Kenyon. Back home…thento fly out to see Fordham and NYU…whew! Jr DD, has allready visited Northwestern, Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s College. Will see Vandy and perhaps Boston College in the fall That is the gist of it…she can apply anyother place, but we won’t be visiting unless she gets admitted! (That’s what I am currently saying…)
