College vs High School

I get mostly all A’s in high school in AP classes. Last semester I took 6 Ap’s and got only one B. However, I get mostly A minuses. In college an A- is not a 4.0. I’m worried that in college I will get A- in my classes instead of an A or A+ lowering my gpa. Is college easier to get A and A+ compared to high school.

College will likely be harder than high school but it dependso n the college. And if you obsess about not getting a 4.0 you will likely be miserable in college.

With most selective colleges, classes will be harder and there is a lot more content. Also, the process is different. You’ll be way more involved in your education, not just following teacher prompts. You certainly want to do well, but 4.0 is generally not the goal. It’s about really discovering your interests, acquiring a deep knowledge base in that interest and being prepared for your future (together with a lot of fun!)

It’s not a contest like HS. Yes you need to do well to get interviews in very competitive industries or to gain access to med / law school, but essentially no one will care if you got a 4.0 vs. 3.7, etc.

I’m 54. I graduated Magna Cum Laude. (I don’t remember the exact gpa. I think it was between 3.75 and 3.8). No one has ever asked me in the 32 yrs since graduation.

Do well and have fun.
