Hey. Just wondering, would you say college is easier or harder than high school. From what I have heard from some friends is that in some ways it is easier and in other ways it is harder. So lemme know what you think and why. Also, how are AP classes compared to college classes?

I think its one of those things that is impossible to answer because there is far far too much variance. While a given individual can give you an answer, those answers will vary (as it sounds like they have when you’ve asked your friends).

It depends on the rigor of your HS curriculum, your HS load, how well you were prepared in HS, the nature of your college, and the major you choose, and the load of a given year at a given college in a given major. It may depend upon how the individual has matured (ie. when they acquire the requisite motivation/attention/time management and study skills), the suitability of one’s major to interests/motivation/aptitude, along with a wide host of other factors.

I think that Gen ed classes arn’t much harder than HS. Higher level classes I’d say yes its harder. College is however much more laid back than HS at least IMO. Things like being late to class, skipping classes, how you dress, and other stufff like that.

Then again, I know a lot of people who did much worse freshman year in college than they ever had before and ever have after. When nobody is making you go to class or study, it’s very easy to just hang out with friends and assume you know the stuff. At least until you start getting your first Cs and Ds ever.

I would say they are hard to compare, it is just a different animal. You tend to have a lot less busy work and you are expected to learn more on your own. Personally, I love this and I learn a lot better this way. A lot of it depends on the school too, I find it hard to believe that Harvard would be as easy as HS, but from what I understand, CC is pretty close to HS.

Depends on your major, school, learning style, etc…

In college they don’t baby you. The teachers are there to help you, but only if you go to them.

i love college because no one pretends to give a s*** about you
