collegeboard online prep course

I took the SAT yesterday and felt that I was better prepared than in May. May's scores were 590W, 750M, 590CR. I took it yesterday to boost the CR. I prepped for the test by using the online prep course. The scores for CR were anywhere from from 530-610 and for Math scored anywhere between 630-740. I know there is some kind of scaling on the real test depending on how kids did; but for the online course do they factor some of that in? Almost all of the colleges I am applying to are those that take the highest section and each time you submit a new score they update the student's profile. (I think it is v2). I wasn't unhappy with my May scores, but I was hoping to boost the 2 590's a little; now I'm thinking I could go down in math and cr.

So, the question is - how do the online prep course scores compare with the real thing with regad to scaling the test and if a college says they look at the highest section only do they really do that?

bump -please

Collegeboard has a prep course?
Is it any good?

lol, My guess is that there is NO CURVE for the SAT practice simply because they don’t have any students to compare it to. BUT that’s for the better anyways

I’m not sure how the Online course compare, I would think they’re similar so maybe adequate?
And regarding the scaling.
I can’t tell you for sure, but I’ve had the same suspicions. I personally think they DO look at ALL your scores even if they say they don’t.
Because if it comes down to it they might have two people who are the same and they look at one guy who scored a 1500 on his first SAT vs a guy who scored 2000 and they both got a 2400 on their last one… then they’re gonna say “Jeez, The one with the 1500 is not as studious/smart/prepared as the 2000 one. We’ll take the 2000 one”

But like I said, I’m not sure.

Why are you so lenient on a decision that’s less weighted or disreguarded? Practice exams are PRACTICE; not real ones.
Second of all, I bet the online course costs money.

@seachai the online course is 70$. If i dont get a score that im aiming for then i will probably take them before the December SATS

Is there anyone out there who used this course? How did your practice test results compare to the real thing?

My son used the College Board online prep prior to his March test. Alas, his real score came in 40 - 100 points lower than his practices. Sorry. :(

This was my second time taking the SAT’s (I took them in May and got 590CR/590W/750Math. I was asking I was fluctuating between 550-600 in CR in the practice tests and 650-740 in math. Writing went way up 670-680. The reason I asked was because I took them on Saturday again and felt I did better. I thought the 1st part of the test was harder than the second but overall felt better than I did in May. I was just asking because I know there is some scaling done on the real test dates but don’t know if the online course takes that into consideration. If so, that would account for my scoring less on the practice tests. Does anyone know the answer to this question? My skill level really should not have gone down since May I wouldn’t think.

the online course is harder overall, in my opinion. However, the real test that they give you (test #6) has an actual curve, meaning you get your actual scores rather than a score range. I think that was the one test that I thought was extremely easy (maybe a bit easier than this month’s), so maybe the rest of them were purposely made harder than the actual thing?

So do you think that there is no scaling on the rest of the practice tests? If so, that would account for the lower (but not by far) scores I got on some of my practice tests. Some were higher some were lower - although not by much.
