I’m an international student from Sweden and I was going to register for the SAT on November 5th. Well it said it couldn’t process my cards (tried mine, my dads and my sister), so I called them. The girl in the phone didn’t know what to do, and after she tried a couple of times, she said a would get an email with help. Well I didn’t get an email, so I called them again, and now there aren’t any seats left at any school in Sweden at that date.
I’m so mad, angry, frustrated and sad, because now I won’t be able to apply for some of the schools I really wanted to apply for. Instead, I have to wait for more than a year!
They are completely useless at their fricking jobs!
The lesson is plan ahead and don’t wait until late last SAT date of your admissions cycle to have the score you want. I tell students to have this all wrapped up by June, August at the latest before their senior year.
Can you do it in December?
Nov. 5 is a Tuesday and isn’t listed as an test date on CB’s web site. If you meant October 5, the deadline was today - then it’s a hard lesson about not waiting until the last minute.
Do they only offer the SAT once a year in Sweden?
No they don’t, but some of the schools I want to go to has to have the application December 1st.
Yeah I know I should have been faster about it, but that doesn’t excuse how poorly they handled it.
I don’t know yet, but some of the schools I wanted to apply to, has to have their applications by December 1, so I won’t be able to attend them
Yeah I understand that, but it doesn’t work like that here in Sweden. And that still doesn’t excuse how poorly they handled it.
I’m confused becasue I can’t think of any college that has a regular decision deadline by Dec. 1. If you applying Early Decision to a single school, or Restrictive or Single Choice Early Action to a school, then Dec. 1 would make sense and you could be applying to ONE school with that deadline. But there are a lot of colleges with rolling admissions, which have deadlines in 2020, and even top schools mostly have a due date of January 1. There are a lot of other colleges with various app deadlines in January and Feb. So I definitely am not understanding what your Dec. 1 time constraint is all about.
College Board isn’t built for kids in Sweden who want some US college. It’s not even a large country with many test sites. Worse, think of kids in much less modernized countries who, even with planning, have only one or two sites and few dates.
So you have NO prior testing? How do you even know if you qualify for whatever targets it is?
Agreed! College board is terrible. I waited on hold for almost 30 minutes today and then learned I needed to be transferred to another line, waited on hold a while longer, and then the call was disconnected. Just want to cancel a test for my son. The website offers no help.
The SAT is not offered internationally in November. Only subject tests are offered internationally in November. https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat/register/international
