Q: What does Facebook Integration mean exactly?
We also value your privacy immensely. Facebook integration is purely optional per user. Members who like to share content via social media will find that the Facebook integration allows them to share a thread on their personal Facebook wall to their “friends” as well as the ability to sign in quickly and easily. Members who do not like Facebook or social media do not have to use the Facebook integration and can ignore that feature. It’s 100% optional. And remember, no private or personal information is ever shared or will ever be shared.

It is purely optional. No one has to use it. It’s there if you want to use it.

How does Facebook integration it work? Let’s talk nuts and bolts.<br>
Facebook integration allows CC members to quickly and easily sign into the CC account without having to remember another set of log in credentials. Many major sites across the 'net offer social sign-in functionality as a convenience to their users. We are offering the same service as a convenience to you as well. It is completely, 100% optional.

Will any of my personal information be requested or shared?
With any Facebook integration there is a certain level of information that has to be passed from Facebook to the requesting site verify a user. We detail what information is requested when we ask your permission. This trust relationship is highly guarded by CC. It has always been our policy that any data that you choose to share with CC is never exposed to the public and highly guarded as private. It is only optionally shared and used for you to use for enhanced features and functionality (building your profile, etc. as we build out that functionality).

What is the Facebook logo button at the bottom of a post?
This is actually a simple short-cut to something many of you possibly do already. Cut and paste links to share with your friends on your Facebook wall.<br>
If you’re signed into Facebook in your browser, regardless if you use the Facebook sign-in feature to access CC, you can take advantage of the Facebook sharing feature found at the bottom of each thread. This feature will allow you a short-cut that basically cuts and pastes the thread URL that you selected and shares it on your Facebook wall to your designated Facebook friends. This will provide you an easy way to share the helpful information you found in the thread with your friends. They can quickly access the thread by a click of a link and / or participate in the discussion. No personal information is shared. Clicking on the FB logo on the first post in the thread, second post, 100th post or last post in a thread, only shares the primary URL of the thread to your Facebook wall to your Facebook designated friends.

Q: What does Like and Helpful mean?
The “Like” and “Helpful” links at the bottom of each post is a new feature that we call “reactions”. If you particularly like a post or find a post very helpful, you can mark that post with a “Like” or a “Helpful” reaction. This will allow you to quickly and easily find and return to those posts by going into your profile page and clicking on the “Like” or “Helpful” posts. This will also allow you to help other members in the community know which posts were particularly helpful or liked by others.

Also it should be noted that when a user that has opted to use the social media feature to share on their personal Facebook wall, it only shares a link to the thread. It does not share any personal information. It’s the same as copy and pasting the link into your Facebook status for your Facebook friends to view the thread. We’re just trying to make it simpler.

Q: What is a draft?
The new forum software will automatically save a draft when you are typing a response to prevent lost content. You can also click Save Draft to for a draft to be saved while posting.

Q: How do I delete a draft?
Once you have a draft saved, the left hand navigation will contain a Drafts link. Click the Drafts link to view all drafts you have saved currently. You can hover over (or click on in the mobile theme) the draft you would like to delete and an “X” will display to the right hand side of the screen. You can click this “X” to delete the selected draft.

All of my previously subscribed sub-threads do not show up in my bookmarks. Does this mean I have to go back in and re-subscribe to a, of them? I am worki g off of an Ipad.

New format is fine but I can’t find the most useful feature - the once a day email with all of the postings to a subscribed thread. It seems that all we can get now is an individual email for each post. How can I reinstate the summary email feature? thanks.

@ssacdfamily We only have the immediate email response option currently. You can adjust your preferences of what you receive notifications about here: <a href=“http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/profile/preferences”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/profile/preferences&lt;/a&gt;
We will be evaluating different time frames other than immediate sending.

Two questions (for now)

Will you restore the function that shows if I have posted in a thread?

I notice that the top of each forum has many more “pinned” threads which are marked announcements. Is this a new feature? It clutters up the forum more than before and although they can be dismissed, they keep coming back (at least in the “latest posts”) listing.

[Edit: I note that in the named forums, if I dismiss a “pinned” thread, it is gone for good. That brings up the question of whether it is possible to bring them back or at least find them again later.]

On my phone, how do I go immediately to the end of a thread? Some threads are new to me, but have thousands of posts.

how do we subscribe to a thread in the new version?

Can you remove the poster’s name from the emails? That way gmail and other mail programs can properly group all the emails from one thread, and I don’t see 20 separate emails for updates to a single thread.

How do I unsubscribe from a thread?

WRT to subbing and unsubbing to threads, AimHigh2, (no one answered me either  ) - it seems that maybe this is the point of that star you can click to “bookmark” a thread…? It seems to me that my “bookmarks” are now what previously were “subscriptions” and that it defaults to immediate emails. Quite an annoying change, as the old “subscription” tools/procedures were identical to other sites like FlyerTalk and very intuitive, and the current CC seems similar only to itself…

:))

@fretfulmother @AimHigh2 Bookmarks are indeed the same as subscriptions.

How do you flag inappropriate posts? I tried to alert the moderators to one and got this error message: "You do not have permission to post in this category "

You apparently don’t, T2. We’ve been asking since this “switch” and no answer.

@T26E4 Thank you for the notification about flagging posts. We will look into the issue.

Advanced Search did not work. I tried to search on my own posts for past month. They did not appear. Just a regular list of recent threads.

@GolfFather It appears to be working for me. Here is the example you listed: <a href=“Search results for '' - College Confidential Forums”>Search results for '' - College Confidential Forums;

Interesting, thanks. I’ll try again. I did notice that my name did not pop-up as it did in the old version. For your search it seemed to. HHHmmm …

@dbraud @doughill - Are there any plans to address the problem of user names appearing in the subject of the notification emails?

Is THIS the new FAQ page??? Because it only addresses what it addresses. If it weren’t for GoffFather mentioning his post in another thread, I wouldn’t have ever found even this one. Imo, we don’t need a handful of questions answered… We need instructions and pointers.

Along that line, noticed early that only some questions were addressed- seemed random, not based on the volume of users complaining. So, can someone mention what IS being worked on, besides numbering posts and access via phone or tablet and some of the broken links? Thanks.
