I would prefer a selective school with a fairly liberal vibe, fairly high test scores, and near or in an urban area. I would prefer a school where sports don’t dominate, although I wouldn’t mind having somewhat of a sporty culture here and there. Obviously, I want a school with great academics as well. I scored a 1410 on my PSAT as a sophomore without prep, and a 2240 on my SSAT. I have a perfect GPA as of now, and I attend a small private school in Massachusetts. Any recommendations of colleges to look into would be greatly appreciated!
You may want to consider the question about cost constraints at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1621234-before-you-ask-which-colleges-to-apply-to-please-consider.html .
I was not asking which colleges to apply to, I was simply asking for some preliminary suggestions based solely on the aforementioned characteristics. I can figure out financial aid later.
The vast majority of schools, especially public schools, will have strong biochemistry and molecular biology programs and are fairly liberal. Does your private school have a college counseling office? If so, i’d start there.
Ok then. Which ones are the very best in the nation?
Those are grad school rankings so don’t look at them as undergrad rankings. But it gives you an idea of which unis are doing strong research in that area. Different ones have different specialities, for example UCSD is very strong in neuroscience research.
However, there are also LACs with excellent biochem undergrad education and good prep for a grad school.
