Colleges can read your SAT essay

How important is your SAT essay in your application? Especially if you're not a brilliantly creative writer, and managed to scrape a 12 on it?

Not very. Doesn't really matter.

To be honest, I haven't heard of any school that actually reads the SAT/ACT essay. Most just use the score- not the actual essay.

I would bet they would read it if your essay for your application did match up with the rest of your package, as if someone else wrote the essay. Amazing essay on application, but score on SAT was not. Might raise a flag

^ I'm not so sure of that. ACT/SAT essays are written in a small amount of time (25 or 30 minutes.) They're not perfect at all. Some people don't even finish the essay. Application essays on the other hand aren't rushed, which means more time to look polished, get advice from teachers, etc.
