Colleges For Musical Theater - Part 40!

For those considering a double major – if a school says you can double major, be sure to investigate how long it has taken those who have actually done it. It was important to D (and also to the keepers of the checkbook) that she could complete a double major in 4 years, rather than the 5 it takes in many programs.

Hi, Karenmommy. My son goes to Bard now, and I went there many years ago. It is a GREAT school. Very liberal, very intense, very intellectual. There is no escaping into a crowd of people…classes are small and professors expect a lot. There is no MT program there, but there is a fabulous voice program and great theater. Bard’s president, Leon Botstein, encourages students to double major in arts and non-arts subjects. My son is a physics/music major, but the workload is immense (as a double major is anywhere). But to go to Bard, you have to enjoy being in the middle of nowhere. Quick 90 minutes by train to NYC, but really…? There is NOTHING there. Gorgeous campus, gorgeous perfomance space (google the Fisher Center at Bard). Good luck!

The University of Central Oklahoma has a GREAT Musical Theatre program!

Our majors work. Broadway, Off-Broadway, Broadway National Tours, International Tours, Disney, Cruise Ships. You name it!

I am as new as new can be…mom of a freshman, just logged onto MT CC today – and I cannot find the faq – info appreciated! Thanks,
