Up until recently, I focused on researching schools with good International Relations programs. Now, though, my interested has expanded to include environmentam sciences and I'd like to go to a school that is strong in both fields should I choose to double major. Here is my list so far:

Princeton
Dartmouth
Yale
Columbia
U Chicago
Swarthmore
Georgetown SFS
Johns Hopkins
Tufts
Middlebury
Claremont McKenna

Of those, which are the strongest in environmental sciences? Feel free to suggest other schools as well.

SAT: 2250 (800 W, 650 M, 800 CR)
SAT ii: 700 Bio M, 750 World History, 800 Spanish
GPA: 4.17
AP: Human Geo (5), Psychology (5), Spanish Lang (5), French Lang (4), US History (5)
Senior Year Courseload: Anatomy and Physiology, Puerto Rican History, AP Spanish Lit, AP English Lit, AP Calculus AB, AP Euro, AP Econ (both, self study)
Side note: My school is very strict when it comes to taking AP’s, I’ve pretty taken all non-science ones as they became available.
EC’s: Community Service Club (Pres), United Way PR student board (Treasurer), Film Club (VP), Model UN (since 8th), Environmental Awareness (will prob be in board this year), Model OAS, NHS, Project H2O (water awareness club)
Summers: CAA Lafayette (2009), Oxford Tradition (2010), EPI Galapagos (2010), CTY Civic Leadership Institute (2011).
Teacher Rec’s: One will be amazing, the other great
Hooks: URM
Yes, I’m well aware that some of those are reaches, but not as much as you might think. Despite offering little in terms of AP classes, my school is known for being the most rigorous in Puerto Rico and sending kids to great schools. This year people got accepted into Columbia, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Stanford, MIT, Chicago, Williams, amongst others. I’m aware that doesn’t do very much to make me more competitive, but please take it into account.

Actually, I would think being from Puerto Rico makes you more competitive. Schools want geographic diversity. What is that 4.17 GPA out of? 5? That’s not great, but you have some leadership, so I’d say you’re pretty competitive for top schools. Anyways, check out that link I posted, it was the first thing I though of since Whitman’s environmental studies (which is really strong, check out their Semester in the West) is a coordinate major, which means you major in another area of study as well, and one of the choices is politics.

It’s weighted. Not sure if there is a maximum, but the highest GPA in the senior class this year was a 4.52. I’m not too worried about it though, because a kid that got into HYP
graduated with a GPA of 4.22, the fourth highest. Also, I should clarify that I’m interested in Environmental Studies that have a focus on policy and advocacy. Thanks for the link smdporfavor :).

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve looked them up and am heavily considering applying to some of those schools. Oh lawd, now I actually have to edit the list @_@.
