Trying to better understand if Elon is a good school for a business undergrad? What are your thoughts on academics as well as the social atmosphere? Population from the northeast? Does the school have a good school spirit? Currently a high school senior from New York with a 4.0 GPA and a 1300 GPA. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Happy and healthy New Year to all! Yikes, this thread is what made me sign up for cc over 4 years ago and itās still going strong! S1 is a college senior already and S2 is a college freshman, both happy & content.

In answer to GA Tech: S1 has a high school friend who is also now a senior at GA Tech. (weāre from New England) Heās Jewish and LOVES it! Says thereās approx. 700 kids who are Jewish there, which sounds kind of small, considering the schoolās size. However, he joined Aepi and has had a wonderful bonding experience with other kids there. I find that most of the Hillel info. on the internet is not much up to dateā¦best to call the college and speak directly to an admissions or Hillel person.

Brisket is in the oven, it smells wonderful over here. Best wishes to all for a fruitful and memorable year ahead to everyone.

@Turtleneck7 - I live in NJ, and loads of kids from here go to Elon. I know at least one who went there intending to study Business.

Turtleneck, I donāt have a student at Elon but we did look into the school and toured it a while back. I think it would be a good place for a business major. Itās a smaller supportive environment, but the school is big on student internships - some of which are in major cities. I think school spirit is big. Greek life is a factor there. If you are Jewish, there is an active Hillel.
Apply now to be considered for scholarships. I think their early action option is non binding.

Also take a tour of the school sometime this year if you havenāt already. You can also contact the college to ask about the business major, and I think they would put you in contact with someone who could answer your questions.

Dear CC friends,

We have become quite the close knit family over the past few years. So it is with a very sad and heavy heart that I write today to convey news that the ill community member that I mentioned earlier in the month remains in grave condition. Boysx3 suffered a a severe right brain cerebral hemorrhage / hemorrhagic stroke on Sept. 5. She had surgery to remove a large blood clot and part of her skull (which is being kept in an incision in her abdomen) at xxx Hospital Center. She has made some progress, but remains in a coma and her prognosis is unclear.

I have been in touch with her husband and let him know that we are all praying for her recovery. Boysx3 has 3 young adult sons, a wonderful spouse and a new life in the DC area - much to live for. Please join me in keeping her and her family in your thoughts and prayers. I am so struck by the fragility and unpredictability of life. She was completely fine just a day earlier - we spoke and made plans to meet for lunch on September 6th. I am praying that she recovers and we can resume our friendship, but for now, all I can do is pray for her recovery.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I will certainly keep her in my prayers, particularly during this season. Would she be willing to let us know her Hebrew name- (bat Motherās Hebrew name)? Thanks. Please extend my wishes to her husband for a speedy recovery and let him know that I and this community are thinking about them.

Oh my goodness. So sorry to hear this. My own mother had the same exact thing, unfortunately, 4 1/2 years ago and is still alive permanently in a nursing home. She can no longer speak or walk and has use of her left arm & hand only. She is aware, recognizes us and her brain synapses have come back so she can recall certain events and people. She was a very young 77 when this happened, playing cards with a group of women a few hours earlier. I imagine Boysx3 is much, much younger than that, so better recovery is possibleā¦terrible news though. My prayers & wishes go out to her family for her to make a recovery from this tragedy.

Rockvillemom, so sorry to hear this! She and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. Life is very fragile. I will keep Boysx3 and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

CCC, Iām sorry that your mother had to go through this also.

Just last night, we observed yahrzeit for a dear friend who succumbed to that very tragedy 10 years ago today. Prayers for recovery to our fellow member.

Oh my. So very sorry. Will say her cc screenname at services during the reading of the misheberah. Thank you for keeping us informed, and please send our best wishes for a strong recovery.

jym626 - great idea, thank you. I will post updates as I receive them.

I am so sorry to hear this-truly heartbreaking. I know she recently moved and had renovated her new place and although I never met her, her posts are always warm and informative so I always imagined her to be a wonderful person. I will keep her and her family in my thoughts and prayers.

OMG. She and I have met up several times in the past few months, most recently in August. I was planning to call her this week to meet up before we head out of town. She was so excited to finally finish their renovations (and they were gorgeous!). She is so happy to see her kids launching successfully and she adores that grandbaby. Prayers and love to boysx3 and her family.

I have also met boysx3 and she is a lovely person. Praying for her and her family
I am saddened to hear this news, but thank you for letting us know, Rockvillemom.

My cousin died from a similar thing at 50, our thoughts are with her to recover.

My thoughts & prayers for boysx3 and her family. Will definitely include her in our prayers for a full recovery.

Wow. My wishes are with her and her family. We were planning to meet when I was in DC recently but she did not respond. This really highlights the fragility of our lives, as in the extreme is captured at Rosh Hashanah in the Unetanneh Tokef prayer. I hope that all goes well for her and that she comes back whole and can spend time with her husband and three boys.

Adding my prayers as wellā¦

Oh my. Also sending my thoughts and prayers for boysx3.
