colleges in California that offer 4 year teaching program?

Hi:

I'm wondering if there are any colleges in California that offer a bachelor's degree and teaching certificate in 4 years? Or is it required to get the BA/BS and then take a 5th year of school?

Thanks!

I’m not sure about any specific programs but I would think you could just try to graduate in 3 years and then enter the credential program for your 4th year.

As far as I’m aware of, you HAVE to get the bachelor’s before you apply for a credential program. There’s some testing and prerequisites that you have to complete, too, before you’re credentialed.

Several schools now offer way to get four year BA and teaching Certificate together. Loyola Marymount Univ definitely offers this. Also possible at Cal Lutheran, Chapman, and USD depending on what teaching certificate you wish to obtain and how many classes you take each semester. (For example, USD you can do it in 4 years if you take 18 units each semester or summer school. Or in 4 1/2 taking normal load).Probably other private schools as well. Don’t know/think it is possible at UCs or State schools, but have not researched it.
