Colleges in New York

I was looking at colleges in PA like Penn State UP, but i have decided that i would like to go to a college in NY. Does anyone know of any good colleges in NY with the same stats as PSU?(not highly selective!) pleasee post.

Syracuse,
SUNY Buffalo, Binghamton, Albany, Stonybrook
Fordham

thank you college help, does anyone know any college in or close to the city, such as, queens or Long island

Fordham and StonyBrook close to the city
also LIU, CUNY, Adelphi, Hofstra, Manhattan, Pace, St Johns, Yeshiva, and some technical colleges

i am majoring in business, are these schools decent for business?

I think they have decent business programs.
CUNY Baruch stands out in my memory for its business program, but be sure to check. Syracuse is the school that is most comparable to PSU UP.

I went to SUNY Albany and they have a decent business school.
Not really comparable to PSU Smeal though...
I agree that Syracuse is most comparable...and a LOT more expensive -especially if you are instate for PA.
Check out the BW rankings for undergrad business scholls. PSU is #32 (and #18 in US News). Not sure if any SUNY schools made the top 50 list but I believe Syracuse did. Syracuse has a similar profile too even though it's private (big party school with a good sports program)

I think Pace and Baruch are the best for business in the city, besides NYU and Columbia. I know that the average starting salary for Pace is like $47,000 a year, mainly because it is 5 minutes from Wall Street and all the best companies based out of NYC know about it.

Stern > Columbia > Cornell > Baruch

I thought the poster didn't want highly selective - Cornell AEM, Columbia, even Stern are all VERY picky. Certainly not similar stats to PSU...
Another thought in NY:
Ithaca College (not close to the city though!)
And: Quite a few of my friends at SUNY Albany ended up on Wall Street. Big NY/LI population at that school.

Stern will never be better than Columbia. It goes like this:

Columbia > Cornell = Stern > Pace = Baruch

You wish buddy. Stern = Columbia > Cornell > Baruch at the LEAST.

Actually I have changed my mind.

Columbia ≥ Stern > Cornell > Pace = Baruch

thanks all of you for your input. What do you guys think about SUNY at Stony Brook?

It’s a good school, but it’s not really known for business though.

I don't think Columbia, SUNY Stony Brook, and Binghamton have undergrad business. SUNY Albany and Buffalo do. If you are a NYS resident, I would go first to Cornell, which has a large discount in tuition for NYS residents, then SUNY Geneseo, Buffalo or Albany (huge savings makes it hard to pass up), then NYU, then RPI, then Syracuse. then Fordham, Hofstra, CUNY, LIU CW Post, St Johns, Pace.

U Rochester does not have undergrad business.

If money didn't matter, I would bump NYU up above the SUNYs. RIT business college just got a 13 million gift for endowment of scholarships and faculty salary money. RIT is renovating the Business building. Syracuse has a new building for business college.

For business I would go first to Cornell, NYU, Fordham, Pace, Baruch, Syracuse, then the SUNY's, RPI, RIT, Hofstra, and lastly St. Johns.

SUNY Maritime

Want a cheap and good education in NYC, then go to Baruch College. I like Baruch, I even visited , I would not go there just because I live in NYC and want to get away from home so that I can dorm. The school is very good and I know that because I know this girl that went Baruch, got an internship at Goldman sachs and ended up going to HBS(Harvard). The campus is also really nice, modern.

Thanks Dennis173, i am going to look into Baruch College. Any other suggestions?
