Colleges in the Northeast with Greek Life?

Hello,
I am looking for colleges in the northeast with prominent Greek Life. I am planning on major in psychology but I will eventually end up going for my masters as well. I can’t seem to find many colleges with prominent Greek Life in the northeast. I have relatives who are legacies and they would really love to see me a part of Greek Life. Thank you!

How selective do you want to go? Lafayette comes to mind, as does Colgate. Lehigh and Union also have a pretty active Greek scene If you want to be super selective, Dartmouth and Penn actually have pretty active Greek scenes, for the Northeast (although the frats are generally bigger here than sororities). I have a friend in a sorority at Tufts and although Greek life isn’t huge there, she’s getting a lot out of it. However, the Greek scenes at these colleges are going to pale in comparison to the Greek scenes at Washington & Lee or UVA.

Colgate’s Greek life, with 5 fraternities and 3 sororities, now is less active and inluential relative to Greek life at these other schools. You might look at Bucknell though with their 18 houses.

Most large public universities in the Northeast have active Greek organizations, although they might not be as prominent in campus life as they are in other parts of the country. Some Ivy League colleges have national Greek organizations on campus, whereas others (e.g. Harvard and Princeton) have their own clubs. Catholic colleges traditionally shunned Greek-letter organizations on account of their Masonic rituals and associations. Some liberal arts colleges, such as Williams, have banned Greek societies altogether.

On the other hand, there are schools like Dartmouth and Bucknell where the majority of eligible students join fraternities and sororities.

Union, Colgate, University of Rochester. HWS has frats, but the sororities are local, I believe.

These are a good lists above.
Are you looking for a specific one? and do you have grades for these mostly elite schools

Picking a college because relatives were in a particular sorority should be way way on the list.

At Dartmouth, 47% of men are members of fraternities and 46% of women are members of sororities, according to the school’s entry on the US News site (under “student life”). You also can find these percentages in the Common Data Set (section F) of any school that interests you.

Other colleges in the NE with high Greek participation include Lehigh, Syracuse, Gettysburg, and Bucknell.
