Colleges in the suburbs?

Hi! I’m currently in the college search process, and I would really love to go to a school with a nice residential campus, but that is also close enough to a big city. I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA (taken multiple AP courses) and a mediocre SAT score that I hope to improve. What are some universities that might be a good fit, and that also have a wide variety of majors? Thanks so much!

Villanova and Brandeis come to mind right away. I’m sure there are tons more.

I’d suggest you get your hands on a good college guide book (ex. Fiske, Princeton Review, Insiders Guide) and start to read up on college options – these books can often be found in the guidance dept or library.

There are so many. What would you like to study? What size and vibe? And most importantly, what is your budget?

You can review this Newsweek article on schools in suburban locations:

Though the listed colleges tend, for the most part, to be highly selective, the article may suggest locations in which additional, comparably set, schools can be found.
