I got a 2000 flat in SAT, but got a 35 in the ACT. Now that converted to SAT is a 2340, which could hopefully get me into top schools such as UC Berkeley or UCLA. But I've heard that UC's prefer SAT more than ACT, and don't care too much about ACT scores. Is this true?

Also, if I send my SAT 2 scores, is my SAT 1 score automatically sent too?

Bump!! I need to know this too!
I got a 1820 on SAT1 and getting a much better score on ACT on my practice tests(of the order 31-34).
I have given 3 SAT 2 subjects tests and I want to send them cause they’re all above 700.
I heard you can’t send ACT & SAT2 combination?
Help Appreciated.

You can send an ACT and SAT2s…I did and they were accepted by all the schools I applied to (6 were east coast, 2 were in the west-if that makes a difference).

Most schools will look at both (like I said above). And I don’t think it hurts to send both seeing as both tests are very different from each other.

@tigerash, I’ve never seen someone with that discrepancy between the two tests. Most I’ve seen are the same or very close. You must have had a really good ACT day and a bad SAT day.

That is not consistent with my experience. From what I have learned about 1/3 of students perform significantly better on the ACT, 1/3 perform significantly better on the SAT, and 1/3 perform equally well on both.

The ACT works better for me – if only I could go faster on it. My brother did significantly better on the SAT. It is very individual. That is why it is important to take practice tests of each one.

oh thanks a lot for your responses! but i also heard that, if you send in your SAT 2 scores along with ACT scores (which i’m planning to do), apparently your SAT 1 scores get sent along with the SAT 2 scores. like they’re both sent together, and you can’t really avoid it. is that true? because i don’t want colleges seeing my 2000 score haha

“Students can utilize Score Choice to select which SAT scores they send to colleges. If a student does not proactively select Score Choice, all scores will be automatically included in the Official SAT Score Report sent to colleges,” from Collegeboard’s FAQ. However, certain schools do not allow score choice or frown upon it. If you are serious about applying to a school, you should probably check.

CollegeBoard has a Score Choice option where you choose which of your scores you want to send. But regardless your highest score is usually the one taken into account.
