Hi guys, hope everyone is doing well. I have a question with regards to certain schools, that use special methods to recalculate each applicants GPA (ie Stanford, Michigan, Princeton...). Are the GPAs that they release of their incoming freshmen used with their special scale, or do they all use the universal 4.0 scale. I am asking this because I am wondering what schools I should bother applying too, and this would help a ton, to know which scale to use to recalculate my GPA for each individual school. For example, Stanford's scale A+=A=A- (4.0), B+=B=B- ...ETC. For their admission statistics, are they using their scale to produce their average GPAs, or do they recalculate the GPA again to a 4.0 scale for admissions data (I may have answered my own questions as this seems like a trivial process). Any help or insight on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

I imagine it varies from school to school, so you would have to call each individual Admissions Office and confirm how they recalculate a student’s GPA and what GPA is reported. Generally speaking though this article might be helpful to recalculating an approximate GPA: http://www.possibilityu.com/how-calculate-your-“real”-high-school-gpa
