Colleges requesting senior year first semester grades?

I applied to Ohio Univeristy about a month and half ago, and they requested to see my first semester grades for my senior year to make a better informed decision on my admissions. I assume this is because of my poor freshman and sophomore year grades. I'm unsure of whether this is good or bad, and I was wondering if there is anyone else that has been in this situation, and what your results were. This semester I have 3 A's, 1 B+, and 1 B, what do you think my chances are?

“I’m unsure of whether this is good or bad” Speculation is neither here or there – unless you know exactly their formulation and can predict the outcome, just do what they ask and keep your fingers crossed. The grades you submit certainly show a good lvl of academic maturity – exactly the thing OU is looking for. Good luck to you

Dude…your grades look good (just make sure you actually end up with what you think you are getting). Yeah, Ohio admissions wants to see if you are steadily improving and a serious student. It would also impress them if you took a challenging course load senior year…aint going to get much easier in college.

All of the highly selective schools my DS applied to requested his 1st trimester grades to help with the decision process, and he’s a NMSF with a 4.1  I think it’s just normal practice for a lot of schools. Don’t sweat it - hopefully you had a good first semester!

It seems you weren’t rejected out of hand which should be a good sign.

I got asked to send my first quarter grades to my SCEA college, and I’ve had consistent, high grades. I wouldn’t worry about it; it’s pretty common.
