Colleges that move kids' mailboxes from year to year

My D and I have now been to at least five different college visit days where the tour guide has offered up this tidbit presumably as a factor that might just tip the balance in favor of his or her school: You get to keep the same mailbox ALL FOUR YEARS!

What is that about? Anyone willing to name names on colleges that cruelly and capriciously move students' mailboxes from one year to the next, making it difficult for Grandma to ensure that the socks she sends for Junior's birthday get to him in time?

Harvard students’ addresses are based upon the dorm/house they live in. Since they live in freshman dorms and then one of the residential houses the next three years they end up changing address and mailbox at least once. My daughter and our family have never considered this a reason for her to go anywhere else.

Thanks for that, cltdad. Very funny. Maybe these other colleges could strengthen their positions by saying, “Unlike Harvard, we will let you keep the same mailbox all four years.”
