Colleges that support ASD students?

There is a job opening in my area for a guidance counselor/SPED teacher (I am neither but I am a licensed social worker) to work with high school juniors and seniors with Aspergers/High Functioning Autism. One phase of the program involves outreach to college admission offices that have programs to support ASD students. Does anyone have insight to certain colleges in the Northeast that might fit this criteria?

After spending two years researching colleges and obsessing over CC, I’ve often thought that college research consulting might be of interest to me. This job looks like it might be a good fit for my education and employment experience but honestly, I have no idea what colleges have these type of support systems and could use any help you might be able to give.

Well, one of the things you’ll have to do if you do college research consulting is start to collect and organize that information on your own. One way to do that is to reach out to colleges’ offices of disability services and see what kind of support they offer for students with ASD. All colleges have a legal obligation to support students with learning and intellectual/developmental disabilities, but some schools may offer more support than others.

Here are some I found:

-[Fairleigh Dickinson University’s](COMPASS Program | Fairleigh Dickinson University) program, a program designed to get kids with ASD through the first two years of college.
-[Rutgers’ College Support Program](http://rhscaps.rutgers.edu/services/autism-spectrum-college-support-program/) for students with ASD.

I don’t believe there’s a specific program, but I’ve heard good things about Colby-Sawyer for students on the spectrum.

Thank you all. I’m making a list and I’ll take a look at each one with the hopes that I get an interview and will have at least some limited knowledge if asked.
