Colleges/Universities in GA that has a well known biology major program

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Im currently trying to major in Biology then onto Pre-med, Im graduating in 2011 and was wondering which college or univerisity has a well known program for their biology, right now im considering Uga, but I really don't have any back up schools with a high merit on biology. Im currently looking into ncsu, which I really don't know about a whole lot about that school only knowing it having a decent bio program. Im wondering if anyone is majoring in the same program who currently has a list of school in that field of area with a strong standing in bio. Thank you.

P.S. sorry if there are any gramatical or spelling errors. :/

GA – Emory and UGA would be my 2 top choices for Biology among the bigger schools inside the state then Berry and Agnes Scott for smaller schools.

Georgia Tech seems like a pretty obvious candidate. If you search USNWR’s biology graduate school rankings (as a proxy for undergrad) and filter for schools in Georgia you get Emory at #34, UGA at #46, Georgia Tech at #56, Georgia State at #160, Morehouse at #220, and Clark as not rated. Admittedly, this ranking would not include colleges that do not have graduate programs such as Berry or Agnes Scott that were suggested by duncanidaho.

Thanks, but some of the colleges you mentioned are private school, which I can’t afford Im looking into public school which offeres the Hope scholarship.

I’d check out Georgia College in Milledgeville. Excellent Bio program with a size that assures a lot of personal attention and opportunity for undergrad research with faculty.

thanks gadad I heard Georgia College in Milledgeville had a good bio program didn’t know it was true or not.
