No advice from me, but I wish you all the best during this process @jkviolin.

Hi all. I just wanted to post a brief update ! It’s funny that I look back at these comments, looking at how stressed out I used to be.
Every since January 17, I have been running around doing college auditions. I ended up applying & auditioning for the following schools:
-Chapman: it went very well, the professor spoke to me afterwards, and I had a lesson with him a couple weeks after the audition.
-USCB: this audition also went very well, the professor emailed me telling me that I am the top three candidates that he is considering for his class, qualifying me for significant scholarship consideration.
-SFCM: this audition also went very well, the professor, Alexander Barantschik told me afterwards that he would like to teach me, and that he would like to have a lesson with me.
-USC: this audition went okay. I definitely made more mistakes here than I had in my previous auditions, I blame it on the intimidation from the judges, mind you, the judges there that day included Glenn Dicterow and Midori Goto…
-UCLA: this audition happens this friday, however I have met with Professor Pogossian before, and so I am less worried for this audition.
However, personally, my choices would be: USC, UCLA, SFCM, Chapman, and then UCSB. We’ll see…
I just wanted to update how this whole college process has been going for me! Thank you for all the kind/sweet remarks from early on!
Congratulations @jkviolin - if everything continues as you hope you’re going to have some wonderful options and hard decisions ahead. Hopefully you’ll get a pile of acceptances and strong aid offers - and then you’ll have the difficult decision of choosing among these great programs.
This is all great news. It sounds as if now, the real difficulty will be in choosing among some great options!
That’s wonderful, especially all the immediate and positive feedback from the faculty. Good luck this Friday!
So great to hear you have been making all these auditions, @jkviolin. Good luck to you with the last of your auditions and PLEASE keep us posted
Thank you everyone! It means to world to me to have such a positive feedback. I am very worried for decisions however! In my opinion, it could be even more stressful than the audition itself!! However, I will keep you all posted once acceptance letters roll around ! Till then!
Trust me. Waiting for the money is so much harder. Those acceptances are so disappointing having to wait for the money
SO ! Results! Here they are!
-Chapman: ACCEPTED! With a deans and music talent award scholarship… still too expensive
-UCSB: ACCEPTED! With a UCSB freshman scholarship & music department scholarship. Pretty much a full ride for me
-SFCM: ACCEPTED! With a merit scholarship, too expensive tho…
-UCLA: ACCEPTED! Although it was through waitlist, I got accepted… and if you check my other thread, you can read the terrible news there: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1790122-oh-no-ucla.html#latest
-USC: rejected but thats okay! Apparently, there were only 5 open slots for violin, I’m just so blessed that I even got to do live auditions and perform for some of the worlds greatest violinists!
so far, I’ve SIRed to UCSB bc of the great financial package…
but UCLA, I’m still hoping that they let me SIR…
Good luck, jkviolin! How frustrating to be accepted with such a short period for confirmation and NO email notification. It seems like a cruel joke. I hope that they are accommodating when you are able to reach them. If not, congrats on the full ride at UCSB and the other acceptances!
@glassharmonica thank you so much! I’m doing my very best to reach out to UCLA… it’s quite difficult! But thank you for the support and for sticking around with me throughout my journey! Now onto helping frustrated incoming seniors >.<
Re UCLA are you in contact with both the School of Music and General Admissions? You should also contact one of the violin faculty you have dealt with and explain the situation.
@musicamusica I have contacted Movses Pogossian (the violin professor that I know) and the assistant director of UCLA arts. I’m going to try to call them today…
So good news everyone! UCLA extended my SIR deadline, and now I’m a Bruin. #GOBRUINS !

Hey fellow Bruin!!!
Congratulations, jkviolin! Glad it worked out for you.
I’m so delighted for you, jkviolin!
Awesome! And to be at a school of music named after an idol of mine as a kid, well:)
