Colleges with Film Production (Directing) Major

karme1121 when did your son have the interview? We got a letter yesterday saying he is still being considered and wonder if that is another word for you are wait listed? He interviewed on the 4th.

@wait456 He interviewed in November. Did they say he/she was “recommended for admission” or waitlisted in the letter?

The letter says we still have a number of candidates to review before we make final offers of admissions. You should know your application is strong enough to keep you in contention for a seat in our program.

@wait456 I would think that is a good sign. They seem to look closely at the candidates to see if they are a good fit with their program. From what what I see (whatever that is worth lol), it is an intense program and they are looking for students that are dedicated to filmmaking and are driven but at the same time embrace a very collaborative environment. (So I guess what I am saying is driven–but not cut throat). The students spend a lot of extra time outside their classroom hours working on film projects in different roles. I read somewhere that the students put in 60+ hours a week. Lots of volunteering on classmates films, not your typical college experience. If that is what your son wants and this is their first choice school/program then you should have him reach out via email or phone and communicate how much this program means to him. Hope this helps! Keep us posted on your progress. We are still anxiously waiting on the official acceptance letter. It seems like a long process, but nothing good comes easy!

@csggirl My son got the official acceptance letter today in the mail! He is excited! Let us know when your son’s letter comes!

@Karme1121 Great! Was it a big packet or an envelop? Did it provide any details on housing?

@csggirl It was a big envelope but not thick, just 4 sheets long. It had the acceptance letter, a final transcripts form and a 2 page checklist for steps to complete. It did say that once you pay the deposit you would get an email from the housing department.

@Karme1121 Thank you for your reply. I did suggest he email saying UNCSA is his first choice but that was responded with an eye roll…he did end up sending one tho. @csggirl did you get an email first or just the acceptance packet? Fingers crossed he will find out soon.

@wait456 - Our son got an email saying he had moved from Waitlist to “Recommended for Admission.” We are now waiting for the official letter. Good luck to you!

Our son received his official acceptance letter from UNCSA today. It seems to be the best match for him. I guess he will not need the big snow boots and heavy blanket I had bought for Upstate New York!
