SDSU has a great fight song

The University of Tennessee’s fight song is “Down the Field”

Well, when they score it’s Rocky Top!

University of Washington “Bow Down to Washington” [University of Washington Official Athletics Site - Traditions](http://www.gohuskies.com/trads/020498aae.html)

Earlham College has no official fight songs that I know of, and students have filled the vacuum with such tongue-in-cheek efforts as “Battle Hymn of the Quakers”; “Theme of the Quaker Army”; “How Can We Keep from Scoring”; and everyone’s favorite, “Fight Fight Inner Light”:

“We are the Earlham Quakers, our hearts are filled with rage
We are the Earlham Quakers, they puts us in a cage
We are the Earlham Quakers, we like to kick and ruck
We are the Earlham Quakers, and we don’t give a-
Fight, Fight, Inner Light!
Kill, Quakers, Kill!
Knock 'em Down, Beat 'em Senseless!
Do It 'til We Reach Consensus!”

Auburn University!

WAR EAGLE (FIGHT SONG)

War…Eagle, fly down the field, Ever to conquer, never to yield.
War…Eagle fearless and true. Fight on, you orange and blue.
Go! Go! Go!
On to vic’try, strike up the band,
Give 'em hell, give 'em hell.
Stand up and yell, Hey! War…Eagle, win for Auburn,
Power of Dixie Land!

I yield to Earlham. Raising political / denominational incorrectness to an art form is the essence of student life!

Hawkette - where are you on this? This is your dream thread! :)

This one is the most valuable and very good overall:

I’d like to point out that the “Hail, Hail…” part is usually shouted as “Give 'em hell, Give 'em hell” followed by “OU sucks” or “make 'em eat *****” and it seems to have a pretty high success rate seeing as their QB holds the record for the most wins of any college QB.

I’d have to vote for UMaine, The Maine Stein Song. It has the distinction of hitting the pop charts.

Hail! to the victors valiant
Hail! to the conqu’ring heroes
**Hail! Hail! **to Michigan,
The champions of the West!

(Fist raised high at each HAIL)

Gotta go with Notre Dame! We used it as our high school fight song, just inserted our high school’s name. We also had a very interesting version of it. Something to do with liquor LOL.

Besides being a great school with a great athletic program- Villanova University has a great fight song.

Villanova is ranked as the #1 Masters University in the East

Villanova is the current Division 1 FCS college football national champions.

Villanova is the current Division 1 NCAA women’s cross county national champions.

Villanova is the current Big East woments track champions

Villanova’s men’s basketball team will be the 2010 men’s national champions (I hope).

Interesting to see USC and Washington mentioned here when they tend to be 9th and 10th respectively in Pac-10 only rankings. And Rocky Top is honestly almost as annoying as USC’s. Seems like a lot of schools’ songs are just designed to slowly drive you insane.

Or not.

To commemorate its 50th anniversary, the UCLA Alumni Association commissioned a new fight song. After a contest soliciting lyrics from students and alumni, Academy Award-winning composer Bill Conti chose the winning lyrics (from Barbara Lamb ’66 and Don Holley ’84) and wrote the music to “Mighty Bruins.” The song made its gridiron debut in fall 1984 at the Stanford football game, with Conti conducting the UCLA Marching Band.

I gotta go with The Aggie War Hymn.

How can you NOT love a song that begins “Hullabaloo, caneck, caneck”? :D

Yale’s fight song is a classic. I’m speaking of March On Down the Field, not Boola Boola. The former is Harvard specific but has stirring music and ends wonderfully with a kind of sportsmanship that speaks of the 1904 date of composition.

March, march on down the field, fighting for Eli
Break through that Crimson line, their strength to defy
Oh give a long cheer for Eli’s men
They’re here to win again
Harvard’s team may fight to the end
But Yale will win!

My favorite is Hail to the Victors, partly because it refers to Champions of the West, one of those out-dated ideas that survive without much attention or thought paid to it.

St. Olaf - UM YA YA!

Ohio State’s is good.

So is my school’s. We have the same fight song :)

Who Owns New York.

‘Well who owns New York? well who owns New York?’ That’s what all the people say.

Well we own New York, well we own New York…C-O-L-U-M-B-I-A!!!

ROAR LION ROAR!!!

its obviously penn state
god, you guys need to get a move on already.
PENN STATE ROCKS!
