Hello, I am a rising senior from Michigan and am looking at future college options. My current plan is to double major in applied mathmatics and computer science and then get a masters in statistics. My efc is a little over 50k, so I dont plan on much financial aid. I have a 3.97 uw GPA and 34 on the act and I am going to be a commended scholar.

I was looking for a list of colleges that have and are preferrably strong in these programs, but are not neccarily top 20 universities. I was hoping for atleast half tuition, but preferrably full.

Thanks,
Kyle

You’re right…you won’t get much/any financial aid with that high of an EFC. If you have a small bit of need, it will likely get “met” with a $5500 loan and maybe a bit of work-study.

What are your PARENTS saying about how much they’ll pay?

Half tuition scholarships to the pricier schools can still leave you with about $40k per year to pay.

Full tuition scholarships could leave you with about $15k per year to pay.

Are you applying to Mich State? You’d probably get a good scholarship there.

Bama would give you free tuition. I see that you want to double major in Applied Math and Comp Sci. Bama only lets kids name ONE major as an applicant, and then lets you name the second one once you enroll…no biggie…but…if you name Comp Sci first, then you’d get an ADDITIONAL $2500 per year on top of the free tuition. Remaining costs are low.

My older son graduated from Bama in Applied Math (some very excellent math profs there). He’s now in a PhD program at an elite school.

Bama has a brand new mega-sized Science and Engineering Complex. Amazing, gorgeous, and state of the art.

Rensselaer (RPI) gives a fair amount of merit aid, and they are very strong in applied math and also strong in CS. But as the previous poster said, even 1/2 tuition leaves quote a bill.
