Does anyone have any information about colleges that offer a similar/comparable program to NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized study? This would mean an interdisciplinary program in which the student works with an advisor to put together his/her own course of study and major. Any information on schools that have this would be appreciated!

Check out a program at the University of Chicago called *Fundamentals: Issues and Texts<a href=“%5Burl=Fundamentals: Issues and Texts”>/i.

You should talk to Gallatin people. A fair number of them transfer out, from what I’ve heard, and another set of them love what they’re doing. I’ve heard the Gallatin classes are great but the process is not really well setup.

Anyway, the University Professors program is pretty similar, and schools with Open Curriculums + the ability to make your own concentration are also not bad choices for someone attracted to Gallatin.

You will want to look for colleges that have a “school of general studies” or a major in “general studies.” That’s the closest I can think of that’s similar to NYU’s Gallatin.

Hampshire is similar in that all students individualize their course of study.

Cornell has a very similar program.
