So I think this is where this topic is supposed to go... anyways, hey all, I'm going to be a transfer student for Fall '12. I currently have a 4.0 and I was wondering what schools around the country have the best business programs. As of now, I'm living in California and going to one of the community colleges here but I'm looking to get out.

Any suggestions or help would be extremely welcomed and greatly appreciated! Please and thank you.

Each lists the “best” undergraduate business programs. The former seems to be from a money/job perspective and the latter from a reputation perspective.

Sometimes the Businessweek link gets messed up. If the right thing doesn’t pop up, either reopen the link or refresh the window. US News ranks top 10 (with ties), Businessweek does over 100.

"Businessweek has a rank with the University of Notre Dame on top. (Article and Methodology)

US News has one with the University of Pennsylvania on top. (Think you have to buy membership for methodology.)"

And which one do you think is accurate? The one with the catholic football school in the middle of nowhere as the top ranked school, or the one with the Ivy League and one of the top MBA programs?

Neither is “accurate” in the sense that you cannot quantify or so specifically rank colleges.

However, I don’t have a problem believing that Notre Dame is high. They have the largest alumni network and a higher return on investment than Penn. To describe Notre Dame as a football school is like describing Duke as a basketball school; it’s accurate in that they are known for that sport, but to have it demean their academic rigor is laughable.

Also laughable? Demeaning Notre Dame as a “football school,” then claiming Penn is better because of its sports conference. I love irony; nice hypocrisy.

I would stick with the the Newsweek, the businesweek one is skewed in that it makes you wonder what can schools be doing different every year that a school may jump or fall 20 spots! Regradless anything in the top 20 is usually a great university just the order may not be accurate.

Newsweek has a ranking, too? Or do you mean US News, Ivygolfer? Because there are method changes and rises and falls there, too. Both are flawed rankings designed to make money.
