I will be a biology major at UTD this upcoming fall, and I was recently admitted to CV Honors. The UTD website says that I need to take 24 CV courses to graduate. However, there aren't that many credits offered in my major. What should I do?

Also is doing CV worth it if I intend to go to med school? Will the classes be too much work and hurt my chance of earning a higher grade? Will being in CV enable me to get research opportunities more quickly? What are the pros and cons of CV in your opinion?

If I remeber correctly, you only need 12 credits from classwork. The rest can be from internships or research. You would be able to satisfy those 12 credits if you use them for required courses like humanities, arts, etc.

I didnt graduate from CV, and I am currently in med school. Med schools dont care about honors colleges. I took 3 CV courses. The amount of work and grade depends on the class and the prof. You have to talk to current students to see which classes to take and which to avoid, since what I know is probably outdated by now. Some classes are way easier than the regular one and mostly everyone gets A’s, and some require way too much work. CV will not enable you to get more research opportunities, but it’s pretty easy to get them at UTD anyways.

Pros- early registration, CV computer lounge, sort of free printing (bring your own paper), easier to get to know your prof, some classes are way easier compared to their regular counterpart.
Cons- some classes are way harder and not worth it, have to do a senior thesis/project.

Thank you bigreddawgie. From your experience what are the easier classes to do CV? I am not from Texas so I can’t talk to anyone there.

Does early registration mean that I don’t have to attend freshman orientation over summer? Can I pick classes before freshman orientation?
