Color Blindness

A word of caution to prospective cadets for next year's entering class(2010)...make sure you are properly screened for color blindness...several cadets went through their exams and received appointments and reported to the Academy for summer training. Just days later they were sent home due to failing color blindness screening. A huge disappointment for these young people who worked so hard to get there. No chance of waivers for that from what I understand.

have any get kicked for history of asthma? anybody granted waivers for that?

I am not aware of any being kicked out for asthma this summer. I do know you can get a waiver depending upon the severity of your condition.

k cool.

i had asthma for like a week when i was 12 but its dormant right now and for the last 5 years.

I don't think that would disqualify you...my son had a similar history but played football and track throughout h.s. without any problems and is now at the Academy.

Bossf51,

Did Dodmerb ask about your son's asthma? If so, was a waiver required?

Yes and they requested records from his allergist. They did not feel a waiver was necessary.

Color blindness,

Hey, our son was initially DQd as color blind, and had the Farnsworth Lantern test and the tech was like "No way!" Then in I-day they did the cards again and he had the presence of mind to say "Farnsworth Lantern me." They did and said "Oh, guess not." Moral of the story, stand up for yourself!
