Hi I had a quick question for anyone who knows about the Nightlife at University of Colorado at Boulder. I was just wondering what the nightlife was like. I know that weed is commonly used amongst students however is the nightlife centered around it? I also hear most of the nightlife is house parties with mostly beer pong and people smoking weed. For me this would be highschool all over again. I am fine with house parties but i was wondering if Boulder is really a party school in the sense that people actually go out to bars and clubs as well as enjoy house parties from time to time. I'm looking for a big party school similar to Indiana University or University of Florida. Is Boulder not like that? Overall I do love boulder it does have an amazing town and is beautiful with so many opportunities at hand. However the nightlife does concern me! help!

I’m going to spell it out for you because the nightlife is simple, and you get out what you put into it. This is how it works:

It’s centered on drinking. Sure you can smoke weed and find whatever other drug you want, but drinking is the main part of it.

Bars and Clubs: The fake ID thing is kind of sketchy here. They’re very strict. The bars in Boulder are mostly juniors and seniors who are 21. There are 18+ clubs in denver but you will go broke very quickly if you’re going to clubs every weekend. There are also concerts, but again, your parents are probably not funding your clubbing/concert habit. So for most under 21, it’s house parties.

This is where it gets tricky. Freshman (mostly boys) complain all the time about how they’re stuck in the dorms on a Friday night because they can’t get into parties. Girls can pretty much get into any party they want, and the guys at those parties like to give them alcohol. So whether or not a girl joins a sorority, she will have an easy time getting into parties, especially frat parties. For both guys and girls, if you know somebody that is throwing a house party, or know a mutual friend of somebody who is throwing a house party, you can get in. This part is for any male senior in high school considering this school: If you do not join a frat, you will NEVER get into a frat party, or a house party being thrown by a member of a fraternity. Do not complain about it please. It’s a house full of guys, so they obviously aren’t going to let in any more. And like I said before, girls can get into any party easily.

To sum things up, its all about what frat you’re in or who you know. The house parties are really fun! Don’t think they’re just like high school because they’re not. Just don’t get yourself into a situation where you’re stuck in your dorm room because you can’t get into a party.

It is a party school after all. But i think its more of a house party type then the club type.

I think bolder is the biggest of the CU system (though Pueblo is a large school as well).

Thanks so much thats a big help! Do you know anything about Colorado States nightlife?
