Colorado Springs Air Force Academy

I will be in 8th grade in August. It has been my dream since I was 8 to be an AF Pilot and hopefully attend AFA in 2010. I would like your advise as in what classes to take in High School? I am also wondering if I should attend the prep school first?

attending the prep school is not your descision.

What do u mean

For the prep school, they pick you for it. If your application is good, but slightly below average, they may offer you the prep school. You cannot apply to it.

Read some of the past posts to figure things out.

I believe the official web site for the AFA has recommendations for students starting with either 8th or 9th grade. Basically a lot of math and science. A lot of extracurricular activities and sports. You should "letter" in a sport and try to be its captain or leader.

Go to [www.academyadmissions.com[/url</a>] for suggestions on what you should concentrate on to prepare yourself to be a competitive candidate.

You should also complete the [url=<a href="https://admissions.usafa.af.mil/secure/RRM/PreJr.htm%5DPre">https://admissions.usafa.af.mil/secure/RRM/PreJr.htm]Pre</a> Jr application](<a href="http://www.academyadmissions.com/admissions/howtoapply/grades6to8/%5Dwww.academyadmissions.com%5B/url">http://www.academyadmissions.com/admissions/howtoapply/grades6to8/). After completing the online form, you will receive some additional information from the Academy.

as a freshman join your school's community service club, and try to show some leadership in it and by senior year be president of it...

dont they give a lot of points to eaglescouts too?

Thanx for the info. I will be in NJHS this year so I can do it in HS. I play Baseball, Basketball, Cross-Country, and Track and Field for the school.

For Baseball and Basketball I've been captain since 6th grade.

I did cubscouts when I was about 7-9 years old. I stoped when I moved to AZ from GA.

Also for the info for 8-9th greaders is actually is 6-8th greaders.

The Pre Jr application I will try it out and see what comes back for info.

Before you star your resume or whatever. You should know the academy only cares about what you did from 9-12 grade.

I know that but I ask the Academy and they said 10-12th grade they care about!

Sounds like you have a great start. Just remember that you start with a "clean slate" in high school. That means all of the impressive things you have done in middle school will be ignored, and that only the great stuff you do from 9th (or even 10th) grade and beyond will be taken into account when evaluating your credentials. Make wise decisions.

Good Luck in your pursuits.

Thanx candidatemom

Are there certain height restrictions for Fighter Pilots?

yeah, they're sitting height restrictions... you've got about 8 years to grow though.

What are they because I'm supposed to be between 75 inches and 77 inches tall? My Dad was 77 inches tall and he fit in the jets in the Navy during Vietnam.

Hey dbluecap!

Can you answer my question below?

standing height of 64 to 77 inches and sitting height of 34 to 40 inches

i am like 33.75 sitting height, i think ive stopped growing taller, but ive got like 4 years to put some meat on my butt

Hey dbluecap r u there
