Colubmia MS&E vs Cornell CS vs Columbia CS

Hi everyone,

Recently, I got offered 3 admissions for master degree, from the MS&E (engineering management) at Columbia, the CS (computer science) at Cornell, and the CS at Columbia.

I am really stuck with this tough choice. I am a international student and I finished my undergraduate degree in UBC (Canadian university). My major was computer engineering and my eventual goal is to do startup.

The Cornell CS is a one year program, traditional hard-core computer science course design with a project in the end. It is a little short in time, but the job marketing for CS student seems to be very good these years. And the ranking of Cornell in CS area is very high. (5th)

The MS&E in Columbia is a 1.5 year program. I like there course design since it includes the strengthening on both technical skills and business knowledge. However, because Columbia tended to admit to many international students these years, the reputation of Columbia is a little bit worse than Cornell in my home country. Moreover, I heard that Columbia located in a bad area.

The CS program in Columbia is similar to the Cornell one. The only difference is it comes with a thesis instead of a project.

I would really like some feedback from you. Both universities are so excellent in academic reputations.

Best regards,
