Columbia and NYC for International Student.

I am still relatively new to this forum however I did post for the first time a few weeks ago. My situation is that I have to apply to Uni in the UK by the end of this year, and I am applying to take History with a year out at a International University. One of the partner institutions that has caught my eye was Columbia in NYC. However I never been to NYC and will have no opportunity to visit any time soon, so I wanted to know information about student life at Columbia and in NYC before I apply.

I will only be here for one year and will not be receive a degree from Colombia but from my UK Uni. I am currently decided between Columbia and UCLA, so I need to get a balanced argument. An advantage for me going to Columbia is that I have family on the US East Coast in NY, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Delaware, so I will not be completely isolated from relatives as I would be if I went out to the West Coast.

I’d like to help but I’m not clear what your question is. Could you identify more specifically what your concerns are?

“Student life” is to broad to address.

Sorry, I wanted know about life outside of work, such as night life in NYC and the general college attitude to parties ect. I understand it is a prestigious school, so I just want an understanding of how students balance work and socializing.

there is columbia group on roundpier which has a few intl students

Well, @Alexty, it’s a very rural community so as you’d expect, very quiet at night, with not much to do.

Seriously, though, it’s New York City. Whatever you want, you can find.
