Columbia, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Stanford- Pick 2

I'm an incoming senior and am finalizing my college list.

I have all my safety's and reach schools pretty much set, but I'm having trouble picking between these 4 colleges. I want to be a doctor eventually and will apply to a few 7 year medical programs, but if I don't make it in those, I will major in biological sciences or biochemistry in regular undergraduate.

For a little background...I have a 4.0 unw gpa and a 4.6 w gpa and have a 2230 SAT super score and 34 ACT superscore. I have quite a few extracurriculars(leadership positions, active involvement in medicine and helping others, won a few competitions, athlete, officer). If anyone has any suggestions for which 2 schools I should pick it would be much appreciated!

Also, here is my list so far, if it helps
7 year medical programs- Brown, Northwestern and WashU (all reach)
Regular Undergraduate Reach- Johns Hopkins, Stanford, Columbia, Cornell- Pick 2
Regular Undergraduate Safety- UC Santa Barbara, UC Irvine and UC San Diego
Regular Undergraduate Match- UCLA, UC Berkeley, Michigan U of Ann Arbor, Boston College

I want to apply to about 12-13 colleges

Well, do you have any preferences for environment? Size?

JHU has the reputation of being the “pre-med factory,” which might be ideal if you just want to push through UG into med school, but maybe not if you want the college experience.
Columbia is urban, without much of a campus. The others have a central campus feeling.

Thanks for the reply, I’d like to be in a suburban or urban college with a size of prob around 5,000-10,000.

I think JHU is the best option because a lot of students go there for premed, so that is probably one. For the second one, I think I will apply to either Columbia or Stanford and I am fine with either since they are either close to, or in, a big city. Any thoughts? At this point, lifestyle and education probably matter the most since I would go to both

The only bad thing about JHU is the competitive nature since there are so many pre-meds. GPA matters a lot for med school. However, JHU still seems like an awesome choice! :)

Lifestyle at Stanford is great, we can attest to that :stuck_out_tongue: . Go with Stanford, there are a lot of premends here too. At the end of the day, it’s your choice. Read bout each school, many of us got into both and choose Stanford because atmosphere and type of students were different.
