Columbia Early Decision Agreement

Hi there,

So, I applied Early Decision to Columbia College at Columbia University this year. I believed myself to have handed in everything on time. Unfortunately, I received an email from the school noting that they were missing my Early Decision Agreement form. They didn't seem too annoyed, they just insisted that I have it in by December 1st. I contacted my guidance counselor and found that he never sent in the Early Decision Agreement form I sent him. Anyways, he now faxed it in on Monday.

The problem?

Columbia's Application Tracking website has not registered any change. First off, they don't even regard the Early Decision Agreement in the first place. It's just not mentioned at all. I assume that it will appear once they've received it. But for now, there's no indication of it on the site.

It was faxed on Monday. Even with Thanksgiving, they've had 3 business days to update the site (online they say give them 3-5 days for updates). Should I wait and assume they'll update it Monday/Tuesday, or should I call Admissions and confirm they have this thing?

Just call on Monday. Why worry?

You know, you’re right. I guess the whole thing’s just got me freaking out. I don’t want to get denied admission over a technicality like this.

fiend: you realize that Columbia spends thousands and thousands of dollars to attract applicants right? When you apply, they are ecstatic. They are* looking* for a reason to admit you – not dump your app due to a minor technicality. You have leverage in this process too – you might be a great accept for them. Don’t forget that. Plz relax, enjoy your long weekend – eat some more turkey leftovers!

Thanks T26E4  I really appreciate that. You’re totally right. Enjoy your weekend as well!
