ok...so I totally procrastinated on my application to make my essay perfect...
and submitted at about 11:59:40 seconds on November 1, 2008
however, Columbia says that my application was submitted on November 2, 2008...

HOW BAD IS THIS?!?!?!?!

Will I not be considered for early decision???

okay. so i kind of did the same thing (11:59:15ish for me) and im having a massive heart stopping moment here, feet cold, gut wrenching nasuea, the whole shabam. i know this was last year for you, but did they end up counting it as early decision?

Relax, guys. Admittedly, I don't know anything about Columbia, but you will probably be ok. Operative word being "probably," however. Do yourselves a favor, though, and learn from this. There is really no valid excuse for submitting these this late. You really need to not procrastinate in this way ever again. It's just not good self-discipline. I know you probably already know this, but there is no telling what could happen that is beyond your control, such as your computer crashing. Power outage. Server crashing at the other end. Family emergency. Illness. Etc. ad infinitum. Plus, you have a very good chance of making a careless mistake by having to rush this way. Don't do it again...

Aha, yeah good lesson. However, I submitted days early and found mistakes on my app---sigh. There's pros and cons everywhere. Agreeing with a former post here though, I suggest you call the admissions office.

easy for you to say, franglish. My Stanford GSB application was due at 5pm PST on wednesday, and I clicked submit at 7:59 EST. Sometimes the last-minute atmosphere makes people perform better and create better output.

The only piece of advice I have is don't whine or make excuses. It's perfectly OK to call up Admissions tomorrow and say "I attempted to submit late on Nov 1st but the system indicates, for some reason, that I submitted on the 2nd. Could you please tell me whether my app will be considered ED or not?" and see what they tell you. But don't try to make something up, as THAT will actually reflect poorly on you.

Get the name of your regional admission officer, and when you call ask for that person. Otherwise you will first speak with someone administrative in the office who may not actually be an admission officer and if you speak to an admission officer they may give you a generic answer. The regional admission officer for your area will be the one reading your application. I think it would be better to ask that person to track your application and find out if it is still considered an early application application.

well i called but not the specific regional admission

anyway the lady simply told me , yes you will be
so i guess i'm cosidered early applicants?
dis is such a relief............but for some reason im still scared..

Everybody relax. My friend sent in his application a week late to Hopkins, and was accepted. If you're a more qualified applicant than the rest, it shouldn't matter if you send in your material an hour after the others.

sryy this is really late and an old thread, but was wondering how you ended up doing after submitting your app late? also @muereapablo, are you sure its ok? your friends submited a week late and was accepted? i think i’m about to be a day late.
