did anyone get interviews?
I got an interview. If you haven’t gotten one yet don’t worry. I was starting to worry because I live 20 min away from a big city and was still not contacted. I got an email from the interviewer on Monday for an interview that same Thursday.
Getting an interview does not indicate any preference in your application. Anyways, can we all share the school you’re applying to, major, where you’re from, and any stats?
I had my Columbia interview today! You can send a message to me if you want to talk about it
i got an interview but my interviewer lives in NY so it’s going to be a video interview
Does it mean anything if you’re given an interview after applying? Or is it just an automatic thing? Also, do interviews really make a difference in the grand scheme of things?
Hey guys,
I’m seeing a lot of discussions like this for other colleges, but not for Columbia. Basically, this is just a place for Columbia undergraduate applicants to introduce themselves and vent/talk about how they’re feeling (in general and about the application process specifically). You can put your stats and all that fun stuff, but that’s not really what this is intended for. I know that the term is really overused and has a negative connotation, but I want this to be a safe space for everyone. Let’s make this process a little less intimidating and a little more personal (:
I’ll start:
I’m Lea, I’m an ED applicant from Los Angeles, CA. Like almost everyone going through this process, I’m pretty stressed. I love Columbia, but I understand that my acceptance is far from guaranteed. The idea that I’ll be moving across the country (I’m only applying to schools on the East Coast) but I have no idea where exactly is crazy to me. I’m just trying to keep my head above water and not let this process consume me. Getting into Columbia is my dream, and I really hope that’s where I end up. That said, I have full confidence that whatever’s meant to be will be. I think that’s something I lose sight of a lot.
Anyway, that’s how I’m feeling right now. Anyone else? I’d love to get to know some of you, hopefully I’ll see you next fall!
I’d also love to keep in contact with you, I figure we could all use some friends who are also going through this process. If you have an Instagram, drop your username below! I deactivated my account the other day (sometimes you just need a break, ya know?) but it’s the same as my username on here. I’m planning on reactivating it soon, I’ll follow everyone as soon as I do!
Hello everyone, my name is Aishat and I’m an ED applicant from New Jersey. I, too, have been interested in Columbia for a really long time. I am really nervous about applying but I feel as if everything will turn out for the best. I had my interview for Columbia today and don’t think I did too well. I don’t know how great my chances are but I’d love to get to know you all better. @leaferau my instagram is aaishaabii. Feel free to hmu if you’re stressed or just need someone to talk to. Best of luck to us all!
Hey guys! I’m a current ED applicant to Columbia and I’m slightly confused about the first quarter report. My school operates on a semester schedule; although we have quarterly report cards, they don’t have all my grades on there because most of my classes are Dual Enrollment. What should I do?
Hi All! I’m an ED applicant to Columbia College under Biology. I have submitted First Quarter Grades, and if your school doesn’t have a quarterly grading system, it is not required for admission. Most likely the admissions office will not take this into account as heavily because they usually have made their decision prior to the submission of these. I have a 1460 SAT, which I think is a weakness for me. Everything else that I have is great I think, great leadership extracurriculars and passionate writing. Do you think that my 1460 SAT is really something to worry about? I live in NY and I have wanted to go to Columbia since 8th grade!!
Hey guys,
I am an applicant to Columbia College hoping to major in a combination of Physics and Economics.
I am a student from Tunisia currently studying at an international boarding high school in South Africa.
My SAT is a 1510; lower than the 50th for Columbia but I’m hoping they consider that I am international. I speak English as a third language ( following French and Arabic). I have two 800s in Mathematics Level 2 and French as well as an 780 in Physics.
I am really scared of this decision. I just wanted to ask if you guys think it’s coming out on the 13th? If so, I will be flying when it releases and I will have to check it on a layover ??.
Thank you!
Oh yes, feel free to connect with me on instagram: momo_mbarek
Does anyone know what specific day results are going to come out on?
If it follows the patterns from previous years it should be December 12th at 7:00pm. every other year it has been the Thursday before the 15th at 7:00pm.
7PM EST?
I believe so, that’s what it was last year
I applied ED and wasn’t invited for an interview. I am from a small town in WV. Is that a concern?
So decisions will most likely be announced on December 12?
Can anybody else no longer view documents on their financial aid portal? I can still see my documents in the admissions portal but not financial aid. Does this mean anything? I know they said we will no longer be able to see the admissions portal starting 12/4 (it says it in the portal) documents until a decision is made…but not the financial aid!!
I am freaking out a bit…it is so close! Best of luck to everyone : )
