Columbia ED Applicants

Another international here! Only person to ED to Columbia from my school in New Delhi, and I’m already framing the rejection letter in my head. God, I hope it’s brief.
@pkteen: I might have to wait an extra week. Stupid exams :(

Only international applying from my school here in Barcelona, Spain.
Expecting a rejection because i need fin aid and columbia is not need-blind for intls…

Only a few of my closest friends know that I applied. My school is relatively large, so I didn’t want to announce my application and then have to tell the whole school I got rejected…lol

6 DAYS LEFT!

Only ED applicant from my school too. I go to a mid-sized public school, and I haven’t really announced my application… I only tell people when they ask (usually these are parents making small talk). I get uncomfortable talking about it because people look at me funny (like “Wow, you must think a lot of yourself to apply to THAT school”). But the anticipation is boiling up inside me and I feel like I’m ready to explode!!!

hey guys i heard from a Columbia alum that the decision might be out on 9th, anyone hearing the same?

Also I hope everyone is safe during these winter storms we’ve been having… I have a much needed snow day today :)

@Stanley WHAT?!! Where did you hear that from?

Last year today my son received the result. He checked in school at 2pm and text to me said he got in. I was so happy and tear out. He’s the only person get in Ivy college in his school.

I understand everyone’s feeling right now. However someone got rejected by ED Columbia, but accepted by Harvard RD. So it’s not the end of the world. Work hard on your other application please. Pray to God for blessing all of you.

@angelaxia - LUCKY! We’ve hardly even had snow where I live, which is funny because usually we get a ton around this time of year. It’s been bitterly cold, though…:/

Oh man, I DO hope they release decisions on the 9th. The suspense is killing me

I heard it from a Columbia alum who runs a company that helps students get in Ivy league schools, so I assume he has some connections and what he says should be true.

@WhyAmIOnThisSite Yeah, it was great! The waiting game is killing me, I’m just a bunch of jumbled nerves right now. And adults complain about teenage angst…

@StanleyJuCu Oh wow! I hope that individual is right!

Also an international here. My decision comes out at 6 am on a black friday, and I have to hurry to school to carry on with the rest of the day!

So the results come out next week on Thursday right??? Holy crap that is right around my high school finals. I think imma cry. #emotionaloverhere

Anyone else’s online decision portal showing up as “Application Status for (nickname + last name)”? This is just out of curiosity, I don’t remember specifying this anywhere in Columbia’s supplement, just on the Common App.

@mmallow I did get an interview, but it didn’t really feel like an interview because all he wanted me to do was ask any questions i had about Columbia. The few times he asked me questions were about my upbringing, school, etc.

@alexbcn me too! trying really hard not to get my hopes up…

I’m from a relatively small school too, but trying to keep my applying to CC under wraps, only told a handful of people. Can’t stand those judgmental looks and don’t want to make it too obvious when i get my rejection.

@Dreamer515 Hmm, ok.

@Cliu96 A friend and I get that too. Pretty cool.

I just went onto my financial aid account and it didn’t show my documents, so I got super scared and I thought they had rejected me already. But then I realized that financial aid tracking ended yesterday!
Wow that was scary!

Hey @satman111 its ok, we’ve done our best, and at least we can console ourselves with Christmas cookies and eggnog if all else fails

I’ve personally never tried eggnog before (we don’t really celebrate Christmas holidays where I live). What does that taste like? Egg-based beverage sounds weird.

@mmallow its more of a milk or cream based drink, with eggs to give it a milkshake-like/frothy consistency. It’s really sweet and rich, and there are hints of cinnamon and nutmeg in it too. Be careful if you try it because sometimes people slip in rum or whiskey for an extra kick :)
