Hey everybody! I know a lot of these are posted, but if you could tell me what my chances are at Columbia, Emory, and UVA with these statistics, I would appreciate it!

GPA (unweighted): 4.0
GPA (weighted): 4.2
Class Rank: 2 (out of ~180)

SAT:
Reading: 680 (what I'm worried about)
Math: 760
Writing: 760

Very good extra curriculars
Good teacher recommendations (with a stellar non-academic teacher rec. for Emory and UVA).
And of course, I'll do the best I can on my essays.

I am taking the SAT IIs this weekend in Chemistry and History, and I expect to get roughly a 720 on history and 750 on chemistry. Also, if I scored as expected on these two tests, how should I use my two remaining SAT dates? 2 SATs? 2 SAT IIs? One of each?

So, would that writing score mess up my chances at Columbia/UVA/Emory? I am a resident of Virginia, so factor that into the UVA choice.

Thanks!

ECs are important to list. SATs should be retakes for the reading, and the SAT II scores should be higher. For Emory and UVA, you are probably fine, but for Columbia…it will be a reach.

Yes, I feel confident in my ECs (have lots of volunteer hours, solid commitment to dance all through high school, school’s ultimate frisbee team, Academic Team, Latin Club, National Honor Society, Interact Club Executive, etc.)

What should my SAT IIs ideally be? (Well ideally 800s, but to give myself a more realistic shot at Columbia).

Also, what should a target reading score be?

With Columbia’s new increase in application and decrease in admission rate, try to get a 2300+ SAT because while your ECs are decent, they are nothing special.

Ok, I’ll need to pick up another 100 points in SAT then. The only thing that I think perhaps even minutely separates me in ECs is that I am a male dancer, which is not as common. But yes, thank you for the advice. Anything else I can/should do to increase my admissions chances?
