My (hopeful) schools: Columbia, UNC, William & Mary, UVA, Vanderbilt

My stats:
- I'm currently a rising senior, I've had above a 4.0 GPA all three years. I've gotten all As except for AP Chemistry and AP Environmental (Bs). I will have taken 7 APs by graduation, and I've gotten 3, 4, and 5s on all of them.
- My best combined SAT score is a 2100.
- I've been really involved in my school, I've done theater, soccer, NHS, Key Club, Social Justice Leadership, literary magazine, and my school's student booster club.
- I have plenty to write about in my essays, and I'm sure I can write a really creative and interesting one.
- I have at least 5 teachers who want to write me a letter of recommendation that know me personally.
- I'm half hispanic, but I'm very connected to my Chilean heritage.
- I come from an intensely competitive high school that colleges recognize, and I still am in the top 10%.

Could you chance me, please? I promise I'll chance you back!
Thanks

Well you have a pretty good chance, considering you have had good grades/SAT scores/ECs etc. However, there might be a lot of competition for you if people from CC are going to apply to those colleges, because most of the people here have stats like yours lol
Can you chance mine? Mine is titled “Do I have a chance at UC colleges (special case)?”. I’ve posted it twice here to get more answers. Thanks!

just got my junior year report cards, so I’ll update some of my info here:

I’m applying to Columbia Early Decision.

Both of my parents went to UVA for under/graduate, so I’m a double legacy.

This year, I got all As and one B in APES, my gpa was 4.5w/3.8uw for the year, and my cumulative gpa is 4.1w/3.8uw.

I am ranked 75th in my school, but like I said earlier, my school is freakishly competitive compared to others.

I’m planning to take Math 2 and Literature SAT IIs in October.

I have a job, which I will have until at least next summer.

Since I live in the Chapel Hill/Raleigh area, I go to plenty of art shows, concerts, performances, etc., which I noticed is part of Columbia’s application.

How do you have a 4.0 if you’ve gotten 2 Bs?

Aside from that, your SAT and rank are definitely going to hinder your application. You have a decent/good shot at all the schools you listed aside from Columbia, the former of which I think will be out of reach even if you ED.

You should get into UNC no problem with your stats and state residency. I think you have a decent shot at Columbia, especially applying ED, but your SAT score might be a bit low. I’d say you have a good shot at UVA. Don’t know much about W&M and Vandy though

I think UNC is a shoe-in. The biggest issue of concern for the top schools, like Columbia, is your class rank. Worth applying to, especially as you are an URM, but still a reach.

Columbia and Vanderbilt are reaches, but I say go for it. (If your class is competitive as you say it is and there are others from your school applying, your chances go down significantly. (We had a kid apply ED and get accepted. Our valedictorian applied regular and got denied.))

UNC should be no problem.

W&M likes to admit “individuals”. Just find a way to distinguish yourself and you should be in.

UVA is basically all based on your numbers. You should be good.
