Columbia Engineering Experience

nah I ask what school in Colorado do u go to? I live in Aurora, Colorado

i go to smoky hill. but i spend a lot of time at overland also because i compete for their high school. what school do you go to?

Overland  I just transferred to Overland this year. I’m applying to Columbia, too, as an engineering major. So are you in the IB program?

We’re spoiling this thread. I think we should pm instead.

I actually went to CE^2. I really encourage anyone who has been accepted to go there. It does reflect well on you. The best thing you can do for your chances of actual acceptance is to show those around you and the admissions who the real you is. You need to actually let go of any hindrance and put your best foot forward, and yet dont be an ass. I know a lot of ppl that went to CE^2 and chose to apply to columbia, got in.

that was cool advice. although, when you say let them know who you are, and the real deal do you mean when we go there or in our actual application?

i mean it on both sides, you need to make yourself stand out on the essays but once you get to CE^2 you must be proactive in your approach and demeanor. Your personality and aurora should show here. You want to make a =good= long lasting impressions. for example, The ppl i met there remembered me even on days on campus and when I arrived for orientation and school: both admits and the administration. I believe that helped me stand out in the crowd of tens of thousands of applicants [other than the multiple other things that helped]

good luck though, and when is ce^2 this year? I would like to meet the ppl there or make an appearance. I missed the CE^2 reunion D:

its from oct. 11-13

are there certain activities or conversations you participated in that made you stand out or what?

hey sorry i forgot to check back…
I’m from New York as well. And I’m super psyched!
Someone asked this before, but I don’t think it was answered- how many kids applied?
Anyway, see you all October 11th!

I was also accepted, even though I applied late.

activities? erm not sure everyone is different, there is not a sure cookie cutter build. but i did varsity football, track, orchestra, uil, community service, american legion boys state, worked a lot, was a mentor. as for conversations…i was myself, and i acted normal; however, i am eccentric and not easily forgettable…[i say that b/c there were ppl who saw me at ce^2, and days on campus that remembered me and we didnt even talk…lol.] or it could be me being like 6 foot 4 and massive >_> meh. im prolly going to visit teh sunday meeting, with you all. Your days will be BOOKED, with activities, but after like 11 pm your free to do what ev, but if its not ona thrus/fri/sat there may not be as much going on on campus.

thanks for the advice drake333. but yeah, im not sure how many people applied i just know 50 were accepted. i guess if you were invited and applied you had a really good chance of getting into the program

i think there was 300-500 applicants last year but dont take my word for it.

I got the email with the tentative schedule and yeah drake you were right. Seems like they’ve jammed packed they days with a lot of stuff

1) so we just fly into the airport and there will automatically be people waiting in the baggage claim for us? Is there an emergency number for this?

2) Has anyone recieved any email from Columbia this week because they said they were going to email us more information the week of the 5th…

1: Apparently? I was wondering the same thing, hopefully they confirm up some of the details in the email. If worst comes to worst, take a taxi? It’s only 5 miles from LGA

2: Nope, no “official” reply from Columbia yet. Still waiting.

Yeah they sent an email today

good luck everyone. enjoy alma mater, let me know how it went.

easy for me to get there. Family is just driving down to NYC :)

the students that applied and got accepted form the program applied early decision of regular?
