My friend has received an EA Acceptance for Stanford Bachelors of Electrical Engineering and a likely letter from Columbia including the Egelston Scholarship. He is currently in a dilemma about which one to choose and any help will be highly appreciated.
Wait until he is actually accepted at Columbia.
@newjerseygirl98 A likely letter with a scholarship is pretty much an acceptance.
Clearly, there is no bad choice here, it is all about personal preference. If there is a material difference in the financial offers between the schools that could be a consideration as well.
Sorry, I didn’t notice the scholarship part. @happy1
I don’t think there’s a bad choice, either, if both are affordable.
Both are excellent, of course. So I’d say it comes down to:
Does he want to live in NYC or Palo Alto? Work in tech industry (go to Stanford)? Enjoy sunny Cal or NY winters? SV or Big Apple connections?
Also, Columbia has a broader “core” curriculum than Stanford, I believe. He may want to check whether he likes that or not.
