How good is engineerng for Columbia? And do they look at freshman gpa or do they believe in the trend factor?

It’s good. But I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that NYC is a better reason to go there than its actual academic prowess, as its selectivity rather overstates how good it actually is. Generally people who get into the school can also get into better engineering schools (academically speaking), but went to Columbia for its other advantages.

At least, that’s my impression of it.

Whhat about gpa? I mid 3.0 range. If I improve, do you I have a chance?

You always have a chance. But considering you’re up against plenty of people who don’t need to improve their GPAs, it’s not a great shot, unless you’ve got something special up your sleeve.

yea i do. plus one of my parents is part of columbia, not just legacy

And if I’m not mistaken, columbia engineering’s ED is around 33%.

Columbia engineering is good.

i know its good, but i want to know the difficulty compared to the rest of columbia

On paper, it’s slightly easier to get into Fu, just going by raw percentages, however you need to consider the fact that it’s a pretty self-selecting group that’s applying. As long as you’re a strong applicant, going ED for engineering gives you the best odds, as opposed to ED for Columbia or RD for either.

but will the freshman gpa hurt me even if i do improve?
