Columbia General Studies and Graduate School

Hello! Right now I’m an aspiring academic (philosophy) hoping to eventually earn a PhD and then become a tenure-track professor. I’m wondering about how well Columbia’s school of general studies places into graduate PhD programs, especially compared to Columbia College. A professor told me that a degree from the school of general studies might put me at a disadvantage when applying to graduate schools, and I’m wondering whether that’s true. Do graduate programs tend to look down on degrees from the school of general studies? For context, I’m a transfer student with the opportunity to complete my education at an elite LAC with a reputation for sending students to excellent graduate programs.

Thank you in advance for your time.
