Is it weird that there was only one wave of admits? Seems like there was a few that got acceptance letters on the 24th and no news since. Is that usually a no for all other applicants? I’m already coming to terms with getting rejected.
@joelfromthemoon Tons of people got in on March 1st, the other early deadline, if you read back in this thread I believe. They seemed to have let some people know for one reason or another but there’s no reason to think that anyone who didn’t hear is getting rejected.
I’m so nervous for this Wednesday
Is it significantly easier to get in if you apply early? Because I am planning to apply to GS, if Georgetown and Cornell doesn’t work out well. Since I had a year of break after I completed high school. I think I would be eligible, but if it is much more difficult to get in if I apply around mid-May, then I wouldn’t bother to write the thousand word essay and just go to my safety school. Could anyone give me some advice please?
I would encourage you to read some “GS Stories” on their website. I really don’t think there are any students who took a one year break and got into Columbia GS.
This program is tailored for people who have gone into the workforce as a business owner, service-member, professional athlete, musician, performing arts, ect…
I think traditional transfer programs may suit you better.
I will be attending Columbia this upcoming school year. I graduated from Cornell in 2017. I waited a year to apply, but by the time I enroll, it will have been two years since I graduated, but I took a couple classes during my break. Overall, it will have been just over a year worth of time that I was not in any classes. However, I’m nontraditional in the sense that I already have my first bachelor’s.
Hi everyone, I applied for early decision (March 1 deadline) fall transfer on Feb. 26th and I was accepted on April 18th!! I am excited to meet all of you!!
@wantstogotoharvd I don’t believe it’s necessarily easier to get in if you apply earlier as admissions are rolling. Your chances may depend more on what you did in your gap year and how well you bring it across in your essay that GS is the right place for you. But yes, I agree you read some GS stories to see if your profile is a good fit. After all “non traditional” can mean many things.
I’m super excited for tomorrow and hope to see some acceptances here ??
Congrats @Tulips21! Do you mind sharing your stats for everyone in the thread?
Do they typically ask for mid-semester/final grades for current semester before an admissions decision? Reg. Dec is rolling basis after May 1st, I am wondering how long thereafter of May 1st I can reasonably expect to hear back!
@mamabear336 No. They will ask for them after admissions.
@mamabear336 Did they request for them today? I got an email requesting for more academic information this morning as well.
@ambitiouslicious No actually haha but that’s a great coincidence. I was confused based off myriad reports on these forums if the reports were always requested for those currently in school, and whether or not that delayed the process quite a bit for us reg. decision folks. Did they ask you for your current term reports?
I submitted unofficial documents of all that hey required. Do you think it will affect the decision that they will make? I heard that they can make a decision with your unofficial documents once you are accepted they will require the original. Am I right?
@LUAL yep you’re all good.
Admission required me to do the Duolingo test again - should I do it or should I reply I don’t have the time to do it right now. Do you think it will affect my decision?
Did anyone get a decision letter today?
@mamabear336 I don’t know if they’re always requested but I’m taking it as a good sign! I actually applied for early decision and I’m wondering the same thing. I hope they don’t delay the release of results… If they asked for my grades today, do you think they’ll have a decision for me by tomorrow? And yes, they asked for this current semester’s specifically.
No
Do they release only acceptation results or they release any decisions?
