@mamabear336 I applied it 5 days ago. I am still waiting letter of recommendations from my professors. Maybe, it’s because my admission application did not go through yet???
@gendarme yes, it might just need more time to process. I didn’t do the scholarship application until almost a month after I submitted. It’s a very brief application, so you can probably wait till next week before you call to say it’s unavailable.
Hi everyone,
I am a newly admitted student at GS ( admitted on May 1st). I got my appallingly meager financial aid package a couple of days ago. For some reason institutional aid (grants/scholarships given out by GS) doesn’t seem to be available to me even though I submitted my New Student Scholarship by the appropriate deadline and am a green card holder. Does anyone else have the same problem? Thank you.
Waiting is so hard. Maybe one more week for me haha. Anybody heard back today?
Hey guys. The deadline for everything is June 1, I’ll be submitting my scholarship application and actual application by then. I also took the GSAE today but does anyone know when the result will appear on the application? It’s still a red X and I’m worried it still might be a red X by next week
@aogiri
I’ve had a few red X issues in my application so far and each time I just emailed the Gs-admit email and they updated it and gave me confirmation within a few days
Officially accepted my admission today and it feels so crazy! Cant wait to meet some of you guys in the fall!
Deadline is tomorrow for Fall 2019! I hope everyone has finalized their applications. I worry my essay is not good enough but I wrote it to the best of my ability and I was as honest as I could be. I look forward to seeing this thread liven up when the decisions come through by July. Good luck everyone!
Thank you for this thread. I submitted my application last week of April and waiting on a decision. I found you all through a google search. As a 44yo returning to school after a very long hiatus and a 20 year career as an Executive assistant this is nerve wrecking. Wish you all luck and will report back when I hear from CGS.
Hi guys, I submitted my application in late April and have been waiting to hear back since.
Does anyone know if there is usually a “confirmation” email or any acknowledgement provided after we submit our applications through the portal and upload all the necessary documents?
@bobsthename
@Consuelovander
I also applied late April, expecting a decision Monday or Friday of next week if they keep the timeline.
There is no confirmation email that everything is in, however on your portal it will say that all the materials required have been received and that you will receive an email when a decision is made. It should say this directly under the “Application checklist” section of the admissions page
I applied April 1st, got everything in fairly quickly and still haven’t heard. So the timeline doesn’t seem to be consistent
@bobsthename Thank you. The anxiety has started to build and can’t wait to hear back. I’ve been accepted to NYU SCPS, Fordham & Queens College but my true desire is CGS. Will keep you posted
Has anyone heard anything??
How old are you guys? Would there be mostly old people at the GS school??
@Doodlesack the average age at GS is 27. When I attended the planning session last week everyone was around 25 with some maybe being a little older or younger and one or two being 40+.
Yeah, that’s been my experience as well. I’m 29 and most of the other students I’ve met have been 21-26. There are definitely a few “older” ones but they seem less common. I haven’t met any yet; I’ve only seen them in pictures or heard about them.
@jasennian @ccthrowaway33 good to know, not that it matters, was just curious. Was the school generous with their financial aid?
I am 20 and applied for the Regular Decision term. Do you think my age would make a negative impact on my application?
@Doodlesack GS isn’t known for being generous with financial aid. Their institutional aid is merit based - on how well you perform at GS. It will be small at first and gradually work its way up if you perform well. Institutional aid also caps out at full time so if you take more than 12 credit hours you don’t get additional institutional aid. Take below 12 hours and it’s prorated for however many credits you take. Federal aid is also offered and that is more need-based and depends on your personal situation.
