Columbia GS Spring 2021 Early Action / Regular Decision Thread

@GSdreamer26 I received an email about a status update but, was also regularly checking my portal account throughout the process.

@transfer136 My status of submitted never changed and that “red writing” is still there now.

@joshinthepark That message populated on my portal pretty early on but, it happened for me too.

Sending good vibes your way! ?

@lilmisseastern Wow it appears that everyone’s case truly can be different!

I never received a status update email.

My status of submitted never changed (this is the same as you).

I never saw a new message anywhere on my portal until I got my offer of admission.

I AM LOSING MY SH*T!!!
ANYONE RECIEVED A DECISION RECENTLY?!?!
Also I wanted to ask if you believe the need of financial aid affect the admission’s office decision??

@cannotwaitgs I believe the next wave is going to come out tomorrow. The last wave came out last Wednesday, and supposedly the admissions committee convene once a week on Wednesday.

Best of luck to all of us!

Yes, the admissions committee meets once a week on Wednesdays, so those who are being admitted are likely to hear today at 5PM EST.

HOWEVER, if you do not hear today, all is not lost! From my prior research, it appears that some applicants receive their decision at 5PM EST on the decision deadline day which is 11/15. In past years when the 15th has fallen on a weekend, the decisions came out on the Friday immediately preceding the 15th at 5PM EST.

Also, I can confirm that I was also told that Columbia University School of General Studies received a record number of applications for Spring 2021. As such, they have been inundated with applications and, as @lilmisseastern mentioned, errors can occur. If you believe you got all your application materials in by the Oct 1 deadline and you do not hear something by Friday afternoon, I would encourage you do as @AkaliTT said and make a phone appointment with admissions to make sure your application was received in good order.

Best of luck to everyone still waiting to hear, I hope to meet many of you at orientation!

Best of luck to everyone this evening! I’m quite nervous, but enjoying the process at the same time. @cannotwaitgs , no, the school is need blind.

Did anyone hear back yet? My status hasn’t changed from “submitted”

I JUST GOT ACCEPTED!!!

I just got in!!! I cannot believe it:)

@GSdreamer26 I’ll see you in the spring my friend

Congrats to all you EA guys! I put my app in on November 1st and I am hoping all you newly-admitted students didn’t already snap up all the open spots for admission! Wish me luck in the next few weeks for RD

I haven’t spoke here before but I also got accepted today!

Anyone else sign up for the Academic Planning session for Nov 20th?

I just submitted my deposit today, and am hoping I can get my ID processed back fast so I can apply for housing!

@joshinthepark I submitted my deposit and registered for the planning session on Dec 3rd. That said, I’ve decided to defer until Fall 2021.

Got acceptted!!! anyone here is taking the ALP test tomorrow?? can you share how are you preparing???

@longshot413 hey! my first post on this site. I finished my app on October 30th, I’m also in the RD pool. Best of luck to ya! Haven’t seen any other RD applicants yet.

Looks like Wednesdays @ 5:00 PM EST will be what we have to look forward to until December 20th. Good luck on your app as well. Post your stats if you want as well.

@joshinthepark @GSdreamer26 Congratulations on your admission! I am attending the 11/20 planning day. I was originally signed up for an earlier one but, had to reschedule. I have yet to decide if I will defer to Fall 2021. It all depends on the financial package I am awarded and if I will need to find outside funding.

@lilmisseastern Thank you! I will see you this Friday then for the planning day!
