How much are you expecting in your SAT II?

Have you made sure you’re eligible to transfer? I think Columbia might require a an English transcript, among other things.

Other than that, not that I know much about admissions, your stats are amazing. I would just check about your university first.

I’m expecting both tests around 700. Will it be enough ?

And yeah - I’m not a transfer student I don’t know how you concluded that but I’m a high school student in my senior year applying for freshmen admission. In tjat case - how do you consider my stats ? :)

Um, your SAT I score isn’t too high. Since you’re an international, you’d have to have higher stats compared to all the domestic students. Also, you may have lots of ECs, you have to prove to the admissions committee that you’re passionate about all of them.
Good luck!

^ I’ve heard that international students get an advantage over domestic ones because of the whole “adding diversity” aspect of campus life. I don’t know… Is it true that being international could help him out?

yeah, passion is important. your ECs are very impressive, but they may think you’re only doing them to look good to the committee, not because you really really love them.

refrigerator: i do think it’s the other way around…so maybe the OP does have to have higher SATs? i don’t know…

do you attend an english speaking school or the language of your country?

the SATs are the only thing that do not jump out.

he is unique in that he is a humanities student from eastern europe. and that is what is hard to guess what the adcoms will say. he isn’t just a diversity international kid, but more significantly he is a strong humanities student in a part of the world more known for their grueling math work.

to the OP - i hope you really nailed the SAT IIs, with great scores there, you stand a solid chance.

in the end, though, if you’re international seeking aid, the chances are always hard.

so - I’m not seeking aid so that shoudl help. SAT2’s - i dont know. i think will be good but not stellar. still, the passion you all mention is visible from the application - because in descriptions and trough the essay/short answers and similar I really depicted the whole story about my ec’s - which are far from just for the record. they are not organized like the US student EC’s but are all self initiative or national organizations that arent for students but professionals - so they really do show my passion for everything listed.

I attend a public school in the native language of my country - croatian.

thanks for the thorough analysis ! :)

i should also mention that the additional letters are from UNESCO, UCSF and Minister of Education in Croatia (like US secretary of education) - not to think of them as a boring additional info

I’m curious; what kinds of topics do you cover for informatics? How do you tutor English and Literature: is it ESL, or do you cover in-depth analysis? It’s unusual to have students tutor students in English and/or Literature here.

As for 'passion, I get the sense that you are strong overall, but that you don’t focus on any particular areas (not that you have to, but it’s easier for someone to quickly define your profile, as in, "he’s a science guy, humanitarian, language, musician, etc.)…HIV/AIDS , 1st viola, skiing, ministry of health, statistics analyst, journalist, etc. What type of major are you considering?

Informatics - java, pascal, c++ programing
English is a foreign language in my school so many have problems with it so its ESL.
About Literature - its more thorough and in depth analysis since its required daily in our literature classes.

The thing is that it doesn’t look so clear on cc but in the application there are two focuses that can clearly be deducted as my areas of interest: public health and international relations(politics) - public health - hiv/aids, medical journal, ministry of health, peer2peer, world aids - they are all about p. health.
the second one is politics/international relations - transparency international, national student council, school s. council, UNESCO (UNESCO is like the highlight and the merger of these two interests of mine because it was about politics in public ehalth- actually international relations and politics in public health - sex. education policies)

so - maybe it isnt clear here (sorry I didn’t make it more clear) but it certainly is on my app. my intended major is IR and graduate school - public health :D

what do you think ? :P

Your SAT is okay.Otherwise the rest of the application seems very impressive.I think you stand a good chance :)

i would say, your score is the only part of your app that can be improved. otherwise, your app looks rather impressive to me

cya in september then!

Hey congrats, it is a great achievement…
