<p>It isn't significantly more. You're paying Columbia-subsidized housing prices, not NYC market prices. The restaurants in the Columbia area are relatively cheap compared to the rest of NYC (albeit, they all are bad; you get what you pay for). If you want to live the high life in NYC (going to clubs with expensive covers and with $15 beers, dining at Nobu and Per Se, etc.), then you better have rich parents.</p>
<p>Columbia could be cheaper in many ways. Getting a flight out of NYC to go home (if you live far away) is very easy. Getting out of Ithaca or Hannover is expensive.</p>
<p>^ yea thats so true. jetblue flys right out of kennedy...meanwhile you have to take a bus or something to boston or take a car up if you go to hanover.</p>
<p>Food prices around columbia are absolutely ridiculous....the restaurants are overpriced and bad and the supermarket sells everything at the highest price they can possibly charge. there r a few gems around here that have good food at decent prices....i'll let u guys figure those out on ur own.</p>
